2013-07-10Merge tag 'iommu-updates-v3.11' of ↵Linus Torvalds
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/joro/iommu Pull IOMMU updates from Joerg Roedel: "A few updates this time, most important and exiciting (to me) is: - The new ARM SMMU driver. This is a common IOMMU driver that will hopefully be used in a lot of upcoming ARM chips. So the mess in the past where every SOC had its own IOMMU will be over. Besides that: - Some important fixes in the IOMMU unmap path. There are fixes in the common code and also in the AMD IOMMU driver. - Other random fixes" * tag 'iommu-updates-v3.11' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/joro/iommu: MAINTAINERS: add entry for ARM system MMU driver iommu/arm: Add support for ARM Ltd. 2013-07-10[PATCH] sparc32: vm_area_struct access for old Sun SPARCs.Olivier DANET
Commit e4c6bfd2d79d063017ab19a18915f0bc759f32d9 ("mm: rearrange vm_area_struct for fewer cache misses") changed the layout of the vm_area_struct structure, it broke several SPARC32 assembly routines which used numerical constants for accessing the vm_mm field. This patch defines the VMA_VM_MM constant to replace the immediate values. Signed-off-by: Olivier DANET <odanet@caramail.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

2013-07-10arch: sparc: kernel: check the memory length before use strcpy().Chen Gang
For the related next strcpy(), the destination length is less than 512, but the source maximize length may be 'OPROMMAXPARAM' (4096) which is more than 512. One work flow may: openprom_sunos_ioctl() -> if (cmd == OPROMSETOPT) getstrings() -> will alloc buffer with size 'OPROMMAXPARAM'. opromsetopt() -> devide the buffer into 'var' and 'value' of_set_property() -> pass prom_setprop() -> pass ldom_set_var() And do not mind the additional 4 alignment buffer increasing, since 'sizeof(pkt) - sizeof(pkt.header)' is 4 alignment at least. 2013-07-10SUNRPC: Fix a deadlock in rpc_client_register()Trond Myklebust
Commit 384816051ca9125cd54750e59c780c2a2655fa4f (SUNRPC: fix races on PipeFS MOUNT notifications) introduces a regression when we call rpc_setup_pipedir() with RPCSEC_GSS as the auth flavour. By calling rpcauth_create() while holding the sn->pipefs_sb_lock, we end up deadlocking in gss_pipes_dentries_create_net(). Fix is to register the client and release the mutex before calling rpcauth_create(). 2013-07-10Add trivial driver to disable Intel Smart ConnectMatthew Garrett
Intel Smart Connect is an Intel-specific ACPI interface for configuring devices to wake up at regular intervals so they can pull down mail or other internet updates, and then go to sleep again. If a user enables this in Windows and then reboots into Linux, the device may wake up if it's put to sleep. Since there's no Linux userland support for any of this, the machine will then remain awake until something else puts it back to sleep. I haven't figured out all that much about how this works (there's a bunch of different ACPI calls available on the device), but this seems to be enough to turn it off. We can add more features to this driver if anyone ever cares about figuring out what the rest of the calls do or writing some Linux userspace to implement the rest of it. 2013-07-10Add support driver for Intel Rapid Start TechnologyMatthew Garrett
Intel Rapid Start Technology is a firmware-based suspend-to-disk implementation. Once placed in S3, the device will wake once either a timeout elapses or the battery reaches a critical level. It will then resume to the firmware and copy the contents of RAM to a specialised partition, and then power off the machine. If the user turns the machine back on the firmware will copy the contents of the partition back to RAM and then resume from S3 as normal. This driver provides an interface for configuring the wakeup events and timeout. It still requires firmware support and an appropriate suspend partition. 2013-07-10perf tools: Fix -ldw/-lelf link test when static linkingMike Frysinger
Since libelf sometimes uses libpthread, we have to list that after -lelf when someone tries to build statically. Else things go boom: Makefile:479: *** No libelf.h/libelf found, please install \ libelf-dev/elfutils-libelf-devel. Stop. Similarly, the -ldw test fails as it often uses -lz: Makefile:462: No libdw.h found or old libdw.h found or elfutils is older \ than 0.138, disables dwarf support. Please install new elfutils-devel/libdw-dev And if we add debugging to try-cc, we see: + echo '#include <dwarf.h> int main(void) { Dwarf *dbg = dwarf_begin(0, DWARF_C_READ); return (long)dbg; }' + i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc -x c - -O2 -pipe -march=atom -mtune=atom -mfpmath=sse -g \ -D_LARGEFILE64_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -D_GNU_SOURCE \ -ldw -lelf -static -lpthread -lrt -lelf -lm -o .24368 /usr/lib/libdw.a(dwarf_begin_elf.o):function check_section.isra.1: error: undefined reference to 'inflateInit_' /usr/lib/libdw.a(dwarf_begin_elf.o):function check_section.isra.1: error: undefined reference to 'inflate' /usr/lib/libdw.a(dwarf_begin_elf.o):function check_section.isra.1: error: undefined reference to 'inflateReset' /usr/lib/libdw.a(dwarf_begin_elf.o):function check_section.isra.1: error: undefined reference to 'inflateEnd' + echo '#include <libelf.h> int main(void) { Elf *elf = elf_begin(0, ELF_C_READ, 0); return (long)elf; }' + i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc -x c - -O2 -pipe -march=atom -mtune=atom -mfpmath=sse -g \ -D_LARGEFILE64_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -D_GNU_SOURCE \ -static -lpthread -lrt -lelf -lm -o .19216 /usr/lib/libelf.a(elf_begin.o):function file_read_elf: error: undefined reference to 'pthread_rwlock_init' /usr/lib/libelf.a(elf_begin.o):function __libelf_read_mmaped_file: error: undefined reference to 'pthread_rwlock_init' /usr/lib/libelf.a(elf_begin.o):function __libelf_read_mmaped_file: error: undefined reference to 'pthread_rwlock_init' /usr/lib/libelf.a(elf_begin.o):function read_file: error: undefined reference to 'pthread_rwlock_init' /usr/lib/libelf.a(elf_begin.o):function lock_dup_elf.8072: error: undefined reference to 'pthread_rwlock_unlock' /usr/lib/libelf.a(elf_begin.o):function lock_dup_elf.8072: error: undefined reference to 'pthread_rwlock_wrlock' /usr/lib/libelf.a(elf_begin.o):function elf_begin: error: undefined reference to 'pthread_rwlock_rdlock' /usr/lib/libelf.a(elf_begin.o):function elf_begin: error: undefined reference to 'pthread_rwlock_unlock' Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org> Cc: Ingo Molnar <mingo@redhat.com> Cc: Paul Mackerras <paulus@samba.org> Cc: Peter Zijlstra <a.p.zijlstra@chello.nl> Link: http://lkml.kernel.org/r/1368073064-18276-1-git-send-email-vapier@gentoo.org Signed-off-by: Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo <acme@redhat.com>
2013-07-10ALSA: usb-audio: fix regression for fixed stream quirkEldad Zack
Commit 8f898e92aea2c24c7f379ee265d178f69ebb9c07 removed the redundant reads of bInterfaceProtocol from the descriptors, but introduced a regression to devices with quirks of type QUIRK_AUDIO_FIXED_ENDPOINT, since fp->protocol is not set in setup process. As a consequence, audio streams would not get initialized, as the following logs show: [ 48.923043] setting usb interface 3:1 [ 48.923056] Creating new capture data endpoint #81 [ 48.923484] 4:3:1: cannot set freq 48000 to ep 0x81 This patch sets fp->protocol in create_fixed_stream_quirk() and resolves the regression. 2013-07-10xfs: fix sgid inheritance for subdirectories inheriting default acls [V3]Carlos Maiolino
XFS removes sgid bits of subdirectories under a directory containing a default acl. When a default acl is set, it implies xfs to call xfs_setattr_nonsize() in its code path. Such function is shared among mkdir and chmod system calls, and does some checks unneeded by mkdir (calling inode_change_ok()). Such checks remove sgid bit from the inode after it has been granted. With this patch, we extend the meaning of XFS_ATTR_NOACL flag to avoid these checks when acls are being inherited (thanks hch). Also, xfs_setattr_mode, doesn't need to re-check for group id and capabilities permissions, this only implies in another try to remove sgid bit from the directories. Such check is already done either on inode_change_ok() or xfs_setattr_nonsize(). Changelog: V2: Extends the meaning of XFS_ATTR_NOACL instead of wrap the tests into another function V3: Remove S_ISDIR check in xfs_setattr_nonsize() from the patch Signed-off-by: Carlos Maiolino <cmaiolino@redhat.com> Reviewed-by: Ben Myers <bpm@sgi.com> Signed-off-by: Ben Myers <bpm@sgi.com>

2013-07-09Use ecryptfs_dentry_to_lower_path in a couple of placesMatthew Wilcox
There are two places in ecryptfs that benefit from using ecryptfs_dentry_to_lower_path() instead of separate calls to ecryptfs_dentry_to_lower() and ecryptfs_dentry_to_lower_mnt(). Both sites use fewer instructions and less stack (determined by examining objdump output). Signed-off-by: Matthew Wilcox <willy@linux.intel.com> Signed-off-by: Tyler Hicks <tyhicks@canonical.com>
