2013-06-12net: add doc for ip_early_demux sysctlCong Wang
commit 6648bd7e0e62c0c8c03b (ipv4: Add sysctl knob to control early socket demux) introduced such sysctl, but forgot to add doc into Documentation/networking/ip-sysctl.txt. This patch adds it. Basically I grab the doc from the description of commit 41063e9dd11956f2d285 (ipv4: Early TCP socket demux.) and the above commit. 2013-06-12tun: Report "persist" flag to userspacePavel Emelyanov
The TUN_PERSIST flag is not reported at all -- both TUNGETIFF, and sysfs "flags" attribute skip one. Knowing whether a device is persistent or not is critical for checkpoint-restore, thus I propose to add the read-only IFF_PERSIST one for this. Setting this new IFF_PERSIST is hardly possible, as TUNSETIFF doesn't check for unknown flags being zero and thus there can be trash. Commit 9f86134155047720a3685cda21467f68695152d2 (sh_eth: remove SH_ETH_HAS_TSU) removes 'const' from 'sh_eth_netdev_ops' and modifies it in case TSU registers are present. I've originally suggested to Iwamatsu-san to split this structure in two instead and afterwards Dave M. suggested doing the same. Split 'sh_eth_netdev_ops_tsu' from 'sh_eth_netdev_ops', making both 'const', and assigning 'ndev->detdev_ops' depending on the presence of TSU registers. All the other bits are the same as what was in the 2013-06-06 request, including the ath9k fixes intended to address the problems observed by Linus w/ his Pixel, and a CVE fix for a potential security issue in the b43 driver. Regarding the wl12xx bits, Luca says: "Here are three patches that I'd like to get into 3.10. Two of them, by me, are related to the firmware version checks in our driver. Without them, the firmwares fail to load. The other one, by Eliad, fixes a typo bug in our 5GHz scanning code." And as for the Bluetooth bits, Gustavo says: "The following patches are important bug fixes for 3.10, plus the support for a new device. We do have three fixes from Johan. The first one is a fix to avoid LE-only devices to rely on the (inexistent) extended features data. The second patch fixes length checks on incoming L2CAP signalling PDUs so we can discard PDU whose size doesn't match the one reported in the header. The last one fixes the handling of power on failures, we now report proper errors to mgmt when hci_dev_open()." Along with that... Larry Finger corrects an rtlwifi problem that caused some devices to refuse to connect to non-WPA2 networks if the device had previously assocated with a WPA2 network. He also adds a one-line fix to prevent false reports from kmemleak. Mark A. Greer fixes an out of bounds array access in mwifiex. Felix Fietkau reverts an earlier ath9k initval patch that reduced rx sensitivity in a number of ath9k devices with no corresponding benefit. Kees Cook fixes a potential uid-0 to ring-0 escalation in b43 (CVE-2013-2852). Sujith Manoharan turns-off powersave mode by default for ath9k, and also defaults ath9k to use the minstrel_ht rate control algorithm. Both of these are believed to contribute to greater stability/usability of ath9k in real-world situations. Since that commit make wireless connection very unstable on those chips, restore previous behavior to fix regression. Once we implement proper TSSI tuning on 5390/3290 we can restore back setting TX power by BBP_R1 register for those chips. Before the mentioned commit the return value of the function brcms_c_ps_allowed() was always false, which is desired behaviour as power-save is not supported at the moment. Therefor, the function is changed to just return false instead of simply reverting the mentioned commit. 2013-06-12iwlegacy: fix rate control regressionStanislaw Gruszka
Since driver does not use control.rates[0].count, we have never set that variable. But currently, after rate control API rewrite, this is required by mac80211. 2013-06-12ath9k: Use minstrel rate control by defaultSujith Manoharan

2013-06-12ath9k: Disable PowerSave by defaultSujith Manoharan
Almost all the DMA issues which have plagued ath9k (in station mode) for years are related to PS. Disabling PS usually "fixes" the user's connection stablility. Reports of DMA problems are still trickling in and are sitting in the kernel bugzilla. Until the PS code in ath9k is given a thorough review, disbale it by default. The slight increase in chip power consumption is a small price to pay for improved link stability. For example, when testing P2P, the mode is '8' (P2P_CLIENT) so the code accesses data beyond the bounds of the bss_modes[] array which causes the panic. Fix this by updating bss_modes[] to support the current list of modes and adding a check to prevent the out-of-bounds access from occuring in the future when more modes are added. If hci_dev_open fails we need to ensure that the corresponding mgmt_set_powered command gets an appropriate response. This patch fixes the missing response by adding a new mgmt_set_powered_failed function that's used to indicate a power on failure to mgmt. Since a situation with the device being rfkilled may require special handling in user space the patch uses a new dedicated mgmt status code for this. 2013-06-12Bluetooth: Fix missing length checks for L2CAP signalling PDUsJohan Hedberg
There has been code in place to check that the L2CAP length header matches the amount of data received, but many PDU handlers have not been checking that the data received actually matches that expected by the specific PDU. This patch adds passing the length header to the specific handler functions and ensures that those functions fail cleanly in the case of an incorrect amount of data. 2013-06-12Bluetooth: Fix checks for LE support on LE-only controllersJohan Hedberg
LE-only controllers do not support extended features so any kind of host feature bit checks do not make sense for them. This patch fixes code used for both single-mode (LE-only) and dual-mode (BR/EDR/LE) to use the HCI_LE_ENABLED flag instead of the "Host LE supported" feature bit for LE support tests. Since driver does not use control.rates[0].count, we have never set that variable. But currently, after rate control API rewrite, this is required by mac80211. Otherwise legacy rates control does not work and we transmit always at 1Mbit/s on pre 11n networks. 2013-06-12gianfar: Add backwards compatible Single Queue mode pollingClaudiu Manoil
Older Single Queue (SQ_SG_MODE) devices like TSEC (i.e. mpc83xx) don't feature the frame receive indication bits (RXF) in RSTAT. For these and for the rest of the SQ_SG_MODE devices, provide the appropiate polling routine that handles a single pair of Rx/Tx BD rings, removing the overhead incurred by the multiple queues/ multiple interrupt group devices (veTSEC/ eTSEC2.0 devices). We should not use net_device::dev_id to indicate the port number, as this affects the way the local part of IPv6 addresses is normally generated. This field was intended for use where multiple devices may share a single assigned MAC address and need to have different IPv6 addresses. Siena's two ports each have their own MAC addresses. This patch removes synchronize_rcu() from function __team_queue_override_port_del(). That can be done because it is ok to do list_del_rcu() and list_add_tail_rcu() on the same list_head member without calling synchronize_rcu() in between. A bit of refactoring needed to be done because INIT_LIST_HEAD needed to be removed (to not kill the forward pointer) as well. mt_free_input_name() was never called during .remove(): hid_hw_stop() removes the hid_input items in hdev->inputs, and so the list is therefore empty after the call. In the end, we never free the special names that has been allocated during .probe(). Restore the original name before freeing it to avoid acessing already freed pointer.
