2023-04-22dt-bindings: watchdog: migrate rt2880 text bindings to YAMLSergio Paracuellos
Ralink RT2880 Watchdog bindings used text format, so migrate them to YAML. There are some additions to the binding that were not in the original txt file. This binding is used in RT2880, RT3050, RT3352, RT3883, RT5350, and MT7620 SoCs. To properly align binding with driver code we need to add to the schema 'clocks' and 'resets' properties. The command `ps -ef ` and `top -c` mark kernel thread by '[' and ']', but sometimes the result is not correct. The task->flags in /proc/$pid/stat is good, but we need remember the value of PF_KTHREAD is 0x00200000 and convert dec to hex. If we have no binary program and shell script which read /proc/$pid/stat, we can know it directly by `cat /proc/$pid/status`. In addition the formula depends on the size of internal structures, which makes it more difficult for an administrator to make the calculation. Adding the metric for a better user experience. 2) document general_profit sysfs knob 3) calculate ksm process profit metric The ksm documentation mentions the process profit metric and how to calculate it. This adds the calculation of the metric. 4) mm: expose ksm process profit metric in ksm_stat This exposes the ksm process profit metric in /proc/<pid>/ksm_stat. The documentation mentions the formula for the ksm process profit metric, however it does not calculate it. In addition the formula depends on the size of internal structures. 2023-04-21hwmon: (aquacomputer_d5next) Add support for Aquacomputer Aquastream XTAleksa Savic
Extend aquacomputer_d5next driver to expose various hardware sensors of the Aquacomputer Aquastream XT watercooling pump, which communicates through a proprietary USB HID protocol. Implemented by Leonard Anderweit [1] [2]. Coolant temp, fan IC and external temp sensor readings are available, along with speed and voltage of both the pump and optionally connected fan. It also exposes pump current. Additionally, serial number and firmware version are exposed through debugfs. 2023-04-21ALSA: pcm: rewrite snd_pcm_playback_silence()Oswald Buddenhagen
The auto-silencer supports two modes: "thresholded" to fill up "just enough", and "top-up" to fill up "as much as possible". The two modes used rather distinct code paths, which this patch unifies. The only remaining distinction is how much we actually want to fill. This fixes a bug in thresholded mode, where we failed to use new_hw_ptr, resulting in under-fill. Top-up mode is now more well-behaved and much easier to understand in corner cases. This also updates comments in the proximity of silencing-related data structures. We have long disabled the "html_use_smartypants" option to prevent Sphinx from mangling "--" sequences (among others). Unfortunately, Sphinx changed that option to "smartquotes" in the 1.6.6 release, and seemingly didn't see fit to warn about the use of the obsolete option, resulting in the aforementioned mangling returning. Disable this behavior again and hope that the option name stays stable for a while. 2023-04-20PM: Add sysfs files to represent time spent in hardware sleep stateMario Limonciello
Userspace can't easily discover how much of a sleep cycle was spent in a hardware sleep state without using kernel tracing and vendor specific sysfs or debugfs files. To make this information more discoverable, introduce 3 new sysfs files: 1) The time spent in a hw sleep state for last cycle. 2) The time spent in a hw sleep state since the kernel booted 3) The maximum time that the hardware can report for a sleep cycle. All of these files will be present only if the system supports s2idle.
