2024-10-04usb: Switch back to struct platform_driver::remove()Uwe Kleine-König
After commit 0edb555a65d1 ("platform: Make platform_driver::remove() return void") .remove() is (again) the right callback to implement for platform drivers. Convert all platform drivers below drivers/usb to use .remove(), with the eventual goal to drop struct platform_driver::remove_new(). As .remove() and .remove_new() have the same prototypes, conversion is done by just changing the structure member name in the driver initializer. 2024-03-05usb: dwc3: qcom: Remove ACPI support from glue driverKrishna Kurapati
Minimal ACPI support was added to the Qualcomm DWC3 glue driver in order to enable USB on SDM850 and SC8180X compute platforms. The support is still functional, but unnoticed regressions in other drivers indicates that no one actually booting any of platforms dependent on this implementation. The functionality provides is the bare minimum and is not expected to aid in the effort of bringing full ACPI support to the driver in the future. Remove the ACPI code from the Qualcomm DWC3 glue driver to aid in the implementation of improvements that are actually used like multiport and flattening device tree. 2024-01-04usb: dwc3: qcom: Rename hs_phy_irq to qusb2_phy_irqKrishna Kurapati
For wakeup to work, driver needs to enable interrupts that depict what is happening on the DP/DM lines. On QUSB targets, this is identified by qusb2_phy whereas on SoCs using Femto PHY, separate {dp,dm}_hs_phy_irq's are used instead. The implementation incorrectly names qusb2_phy interrupts as "hs_phy_irq". Clean this up so that driver would be using only qusb2/(dp & dm) for wakeup purposes. For devices running older kernels, this won't break any functionality because the interrupt configurations in QUSB2 PHY based SoCs is done by configuring QUSB2PHY_INTR_CTRL register in PHY address space and it was never armed properly right from the start. 2023-06-13USB: dwc3: qcom: fix NULL-deref on suspendJohan Hovold
The Qualcomm dwc3 glue driver is currently accessing the driver data of the child core device during suspend and on wakeup interrupts. This is clearly a bad idea as the child may not have probed yet or could have been unbound from its driver. The first such layering violation was part of the initial version of the driver, but this was later made worse when the hack that accesses the driver data of the grand child xhci device to configure the wakeup interrupts was added. Fixing this properly is not that easily done, so add a sanity check to make sure that the child driver data is non-NULL before dereferencing it for now. Note that this relies on subtleties like the fact that driver core is making sure that the parent is not suspended while the child is probing. 2023-05-28usb: dwc3-qcom: Convert to platform remove callback returning voidUwe Kleine-König
The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart from emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returns void. Eventually after all drivers are converted, .remove_new() is renamed to .remove(). Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant. It is the Qualcomm glue wakeup interrupts that may be able to wake the system from suspend and this can now be described in the devicetree. 2022-08-18usb: dwc3: qcom: fix peripheral and OTG suspendJohan Hovold
A recent commit implementing wakeup support in host mode instead broke suspend for peripheral and OTG mode. The hack that was added in the suspend path to determine the speed of any device connected to the USB2 bus not only accesses internal driver data for a child device, but also dereferences a NULL pointer or accesses freed data when the controller is not acting as host. There's no quick fix to the layering violation, but since reverting would leave us with broken suspend in host mode with wakeup triggering immediately, let's keep the hack for now. Fix the immediate issues by only checking the host bus speed and enabling wakeup interrupts when acting as host. 2022-08-18usb: dwc3: qcom: fix use-after-free on runtime-PM wakeupJohan Hovold
The Qualcomm dwc3 runtime-PM implementation checks the xhci platform-device pointer in the wakeup-interrupt handler to determine whether the controller is in host mode and if so triggers a resume. After a role switch in OTG mode the xhci platform-device would have been freed and the next wakeup from runtime suspend would access the freed memory. Note that role switching is executed from a freezable workqueue, which guarantees that the pointer is stable during suspend. Also note that runtime PM has been broken since commit 2664deb09306 ("usb: dwc3: qcom: Honor wakeup enabled/disabled state"), which incidentally also prevents this issue from being triggered. 2022-08-18Revert "usb: dwc3: qcom: Keep power domain on to retain controller status"Johan Hovold
This reverts commit d9be8d5c5b032e5383ff5c404ff4155e9c705429. Generic power-domain flags must be set before the power-domain is initialised and must specifically not be modified by drivers for devices that happen to be in the domain. To make sure that USB power-domains are left enabled during system suspend when a device in the domain is in the wakeup path, the GENPD_FLAG_ACTIVE_WAKEUP flag should instead be set for the domain unconditionally when it is registered. Note that this also avoids keeping power-domains on during suspend when wakeup has not been enabled (e.g. through sysfs). For the runtime PM case, making sure that the PHYs are not suspended and that they are in the same domain as the controller prevents the domain from being suspended. If there are cases where this is not possible or desirable, the genpd implementation may need to be extended. 2021-12-09Revert "usb: dwc3: dwc3-qcom: Enable tx-fifo-resize property by default"Douglas Anderson
This reverts commit cefdd52fa0455c0555c30927386ee466a108b060. On sc7180-trogdor class devices with 'fw_devlink=permissive' and KASAN enabled, you'll see a Use-After-Free reported at bootup. The root of the problem is that dwc3_qcom_of_register_core() is adding a devm-allocated "tx-fifo-resize" property to its device tree node using of_add_property(). The issue is that of_add_property() makes a _permanent_ addition to the device tree that lasts until reboot. That means allocating memory for the property using "devm" managed memory is a terrible idea since that memory will be freed upon probe deferral or device unbinding. Let's revert the patch since the system is still functional without it. The fact that of_add_property() makes a permanent change is extra fodder for those folks who were aruging that the device tree isn't really the right way to pass information between parts of the driver. It is an exercise left to the reader to submit a patch re-adding the new feature in a way that makes everyone happier. 2021-08-13usb: dwc3: qcom: add IRQ checkSergey Shtylyov
In dwc3_qcom_acpi_register_core(), the driver neglects to check the result of platform_get_irq()'s call and blithely assigns the negative error codes to the allocated child device's IRQ resource and then passing this resource to platform_device_add_resources() and later causing dwc3_otg_get_irq() to fail anyway. Stop calling platform_device_add_resources() with the invalid IRQ #s, so that there's less complexity in the IRQ error checking.
