2013-04-30NFSD: SECINFO doesn't handle unsupported pseudoflavors correctlyChuck Lever
If nfsd4_do_encode_secinfo() can't find GSS info that matches an export security flavor, it assumes the flavor is not a GSS pseudoflavor, and simply puts it on the wire. However, if this XDR encoding logic is given a legitimate GSS pseudoflavor but the RPC layer says it does not support that pseudoflavor for some reason, then the server leaks GSS pseudoflavor numbers onto the wire. I confirmed this happens by blacklisting rpcsec_gss_krb5, then attempted a client transition from the pseudo-fs to a Kerberos-only share. The client received a flavor list containing the Kerberos pseudoflavor numbers, rather than GSS tuples. The encoder logic can check that each pseudoflavor in flavs[] is less than MAXFLAVOR before writing it into the buffer, to prevent this. But after "nflavs" is written into the XDR buffer, the encoder can't skip writing flavor information into the buffer when it discovers the RPC layer doesn't support that flavor. So count the number of valid flavors as they are written into the XDR buffer, then write that count into a placeholder in the XDR buffer when all recognized flavors have been encoded. 2013-04-30Revert "bnx2x: allow nvram test to run when device is down"Dmitry Kravkov
This reverts commit d2d2d87dfd1a25ee270994c5b9e3eb4690428d32 ("bnx2x: allow nvram test to run when device is down"). Since it makes access to the device in D3 state possible. More work is required to make sure device is not set to D3 during ifdown. Until this is done the nvram-test should simply exit if device is down like it did before. 2013-04-30[libata] acpi: make ata_ap_acpi_handle not blockAaron Lu
Since commit 30dcf76acc, ata_ap_acpi_handle will always do a namespace walk, which requires acquiring an acpi namespace mutex. This made it impossible to be used when calling path has held a spinlock. For example, it can occur in the following code path for pata_acpi: ata_scsi_queuecmd (ap->lock is acquired) __ata_scsi_queuecmd ata_scsi_translate ata_qc_issue pacpi_qc_issue ata_acpi_stm ata_ap_acpi_handle acpi_get_child acpi_walk_namespace acpi_ut_acquire_mutex (acquire mutex while holding lock) This caused scheduling while atomic bug, as reported in bug #56781. Actually, ata_ap_acpi_handle doesn't have to walk the namespace every time it is called, it can simply return the bound acpi handle on the corresponding SCSI host. The reason previously it is not done this way is, ata_ap_acpi_handle is used in the binding function ata_acpi_bind_host by ata_acpi_gtm when the handle is not bound to the SCSI host yet. Since we already have the ATA port's handle in its binding function, we can simply use it instead of calling ata_ap_acpi_handle there. So introduce a new function __ata_acpi_gtm, where it will receive an acpi handle param in addition to the ATA port which is solely used for debug statement. With this change, we can make ata_ap_acpi_handle simply return the bound handle for SCSI host instead of walking the acpi namespace now. Minor 0 is the VFIO container device (/dev/vfio/vfio). On it's own the container does not provide a user with any privileged access. It only supports API version check and extension check ioctls. 2013-04-30bridge: avoid OOPS if root port not foundstephen hemminger
Bridge can crash while trying to send topology change packet. This happens if root port can't be found. This was reported by user but currently unable to reproduce it easily. We're going out of our way here to remap an error to make rfc 3530 happy--but the rfc itself (nor rfc 1813, which has similar language) gives no justification. And disagrees with local filesystem behavior, with Linux and posix man pages, and knfsd's implemented behavior for v2 and v3. And the documented behavior seems better, in that it gives a little more information--you could implement the 3530 behavior using the posix behavior, but not the other way around. Also, the Linux client makes no attempt to remap this error in the v4 case, so it can end up just returning EEXIST to the application in a case where it should return EISDIR. Dave Hansen reported strange utime/stime values on his system: https://lkml.org/lkml/2013/4/4/435 This happens because prev->stime value is bigger than rtime value. Root of the problem are non-monotonic rtime values (i.e. current rtime is smaller than previous rtime) and that should be debugged and fixed. But since problem did not manifest itself before commit 62188451f0d63add7ad0cd2a1ae269d600c1663d "cputime: Avoid multiplication overflow on utime scaling", it should be threated as regression, which we can easily fixed on cputime_adjust() function. For now, let's apply this fix, but further work is needed to fix root of the problem. To prevent that only update prev->{u,s}time values when they are smaller than current rtime. Here is patch, which adds Linus's cputime scaling algorithm to the kernel. This is a follow up (well, fix) to commit d9a3c9823a2e6a543eb7807fb3d15d8233817ec5 ("sched: Lower chances of cputime scaling overflow") which commit tried to avoid multiplication overflow, but did not guarantee that the overflow would not happen. Linus crated a different algorithm, which completely avoids the multiplication overflow by dropping precision when numbers are big. It was tested by me and it gives good relative error of scaled numbers.
