Because we don't have vblank hooked up via drm_irq (which is a bit awkward due to separation between omapdss (which knows the irq #) and omapdrm, for now use gettimeofday to have a semi-sane timestamp in the page-flip event. Otherwise apps like weston drm compositor, which use the timestamp in it's animations, get highly confused. The ring expansion patches in particular have been tested by both me and Paul Zimmerman from Synopsis. They add support for: - Dynamic ring expansion - New USB 2.1 link PM errata (BESL) - xHCI host controller support for the Synopsis DesignWare 3 IP The dynamic ring expansion patches finally make test 10 of the host-side test pass, instead of failing due to no room on the endpoint ring for the larger transfers. I would have hoped that the ring expansion patchset would make the Point Grey USB 3.0 camera work, but sadly it fails to respond to a control transfer on my test system. This doesn't seem to be a driver bug, but it could be a device or host bug. Felipe has tested the patches to add a platform device to the xHCI driver on the Synopsis DesignWare 3 IP in the TI OMAP5 board. Please pull. Thanks, Sarah Sharp
2012-03-13tile: Use set_current_blocked() and block_sigmask()Matt Fleming
As described in e6fa16ab ("signal: sigprocmask() should do retarget_shared_pending()") the modification of current->blocked is incorrect as we need to check whether the signal we're about to block is pending in the shared queue. Also, use the new helper function introduced in commit 5e6292c0f28f ("signal: add block_sigmask() for adding sigmask to current->blocked") which centralises the code for updating current->blocked after successfully delivering a signal and reduces the amount of duplicate code across architectures. In the past some architectures got this code wrong, so using this helper function should stop that from happening again. 2012-03-13perf record: Fix buffer overrun bug in tracepoint_id_to_path()Stephane Eranian
This patch fixes a buffer overrun bug in tracepoint_id_to_path(). The bug manisfested itself as a memory error reported by perf record. I ran into it with perf sched: $ perf sched rec noploop 2 noploop for 2 seconds [ perf record: Woken up 14 times to write data ] [ perf record: Captured and wrote 42.701 MB perf.data (~1865622 samples) ] Fatal: No memory to alloc tracepoints list It turned out that tracepoint_id_to_path() was reading the tracepoint id using read() but the buffer was not large enough to include the \n terminator for id with 4 digits or more. The patch fixes the problem by extending the buffer to a more reasonable size covering all possible id length include \n terminator. Note that atoll() stops at the first non digit character, thus it is not necessary to clear the buffer between each read. 2012-03-13sched/x86: Fix overflow in cyc2ns_offsetSalman Qazi
When a machine boots up, the TSC generally gets reset. However, when kexec is used to boot into a kernel, the TSC value would be carried over from the previous kernel. The computation of cycns_offset in set_cyc2ns_scale is prone to an overflow, if the machine has been up more than 208 days prior to the kexec. The overflow happens when we multiply *scale, even though there is enough room to store the final answer. We fix this issue by decomposing tsc_now into the quotient and remainder of division by CYC2NS_SCALE_FACTOR and then performing the multiplication separately on the two components. Refactor code to share the calculation with the previous fix in __cycles_2_ns(). v3: added previously removed sock_put() to the tun_release() callback, because sk_release_kernel() doesn't drop the socket reference. v2: sk_release_kernel() used for socket release. Dummy tun_release() is required for sk_release_kernel() ---> sock_release() ---> sock->ops->release() call. TUN was designed to destroy it's socket on network namesapce shutdown. But this will never happen for persistent device, because it's socket holds network namespace. This patch removes of holding network namespace by TUN socket and replaces it by creating socket in init_net and then changing it's net it to desired one. 2012-03-12perf report: Fix annotate double quit issue in branch view modeStephane Eranian
This patch fixes perf report to not go back two levels when pressing the 'q' key while annotating in branch view mode. When pressing 'q' in annotate mode and if the branch source and target belong to different functions, perf now brings up the annotation popup menu again to offer the option to annotate the other branch source or target. As part of the code restructuring in perf_evsel__hists_browse() we also fix a memory leak on options[] in case of error. 2012-03-12sched: Fix nohz load accounting -- again!Peter Zijlstra
Various people reported nohz load tracking still being wrecked, but Doug spotted the actual problem. We fold the nohz remainder in too soon, causing us to loose samples and under-account. So instead of playing catch-up up-front, always do a single load-fold with whatever state we encounter and only then fold the nohz remainder and play catch-up. 2012-03-12printk/sched: Introduce special printk_sched() for those awkward momentsPeter Zijlstra
There's a few awkward printk()s inside of scheduler guts that people prefer to keep but really are rather deadlock prone. Fudge around it by storing the text in a per-cpu buffer and poll it using the existing printk_tick() handler. This will drop output when its more frequent than once a tick, however only the affinity thing could possible go that fast and for that just one should suffice to notify the admin he's done something silly..
