2021-06-21dt-bindings: Drop redundant minItems/maxItemsRob Herring
If a property has an 'items' list, then a 'minItems' or 'maxItems' with the same size as the list is redundant and can be dropped. Note that is DT schema specific behavior and not standard json-schema behavior. The tooling will fixup the final schema adding any unspecified minItems/maxItems. This condition is partially checked with the meta-schema already, but only if both 'minItems' and 'maxItems' are equal to the 'items' length. An improved meta-schema is pending. Convert the ARM Timer-Watchdog Device Tree binding documentation to json-schema. 2021-05-12dt-bindings: timer: renesas, tpu: Convert to json-schemaGeert Uytterhoeven
Convert the Renesas H8/300 Timer Pulse Unit Device Tree binding documentation to json-schema. Correct clock-names, as "peripheral_clk" is the name of the supplier, and all users use "fck". Note that there are two different bindings for the TPU, both using "renesas, tpu": this one for using the TPU as a clock source (used on H8/300), and a second use for using the TPU as a PWM controller (used on ARM). To avoid conflicts, both bindings are marked with the appropriate "select" logic, to check for the absence respectively presence of the "#pwm-cells" property. Pull ARM devicetree updates from Arnd Bergmann: "There are six new SoCs added this time. Apple M1 and Nuvoton WPCM450 have separate branches because they are new SoC families that require changes outside of device tree files. The other four are variations of already supported chips and get merged through this branch: - STMicroelectronics STM32H750 is one of many variants of STM32 microcontrollers based on the Cortex-M7 core. This is particularly notable since we rarely add support for new MMU-less chips these days. In this case, the board that gets added along with the platform is not a SoC reference platform but the "Art Pi" (https://art-pi.gitee.io/website/) machine that was originally design for the RT-Thread RTOS. - NXP i.MX8QuadMax is a variant of the growing i.MX8 embedded/industrial SoC family, using two Cortex-A72 and four Cortex-A53 cores. It gets added along with its reference board, the "NXP i.MX8QuadMax Multisensory Enablement Kit". - Qualcomm SC7280 is a Laptop SoC following the SC7180 (Snapdragon 7c) that is used in some Chromebooks and Windows laptops. Only a reference board is added for the moment. - TI AM64x Sita4ra is a new version of the K3 SoC family for industrial control, motor control, remote IO, IoT gateway etc., similar to the older AM65x family. Two reference machines are added alongside. Among the newly added machines, there is a very clear skew towards 64-bit machines now, with 12 32-bit machines compared to 23 64-bit machines. 2021-04-08dt-bindings: timer: arm,arch_timer: Add interrupt-names supportHector Martin
Not all platforms provide the same set of timers/interrupts, and Linux only needs one (plus kvm/guest ones); some platforms are working around this by using dummy fake interrupts. Implementing interrupt-names allows the devicetree to specify an arbitrary set of available interrupts, so the timer code can pick the right one. This also adds the hyp-virt timer/interrupt, which was previously not expressed in the fixed 4-interrupt form. 2021-02-04dt-bindings: Fix errors in 'if' schemasRob Herring
Properties in if/then schemas weren't getting checked by the meta-schemas. Enabling meta-schema checks finds several errors. The use of an 'items' schema (as opposed to the list form) is wrong in some cases as it applies to all entries. 'contains' is the correct schema to use in the case of multiple entries. 2021-01-20c6x: remove architectureArnd Bergmann
The c6x architecture was added to the kernel in 2011 at a time when running Linux on DSPs was widely seen as the logical evolution. It appears the trend has gone back to running Linux on Arm based SoCs with DSP, using a better supported software ecosystem, and having better real-time behavior for the DSP code. An example of this is TI's own Keystone2 platform. The upstream kernel port appears to no longer have any users. Mark Salter remained avaialable to review patches, but mentioned that he no longer has access to working hardware himself. Without any users, it's best to just remove the code completely to reduce the work for cross-architecture code changes. Many thanks to Mark for maintaining the code for the past ten years. specified The NPCM750 Timer/Watchdog Controller has multiple interrupt lines, connected to multiple timers. The driver uses timer 0 for timer interrupts, so the interrupt line corresponding to timer 0 should be specified in DT. I removed the mention of "flags for falling edge", because the timer controller uses high-level interrupts rather than falling-edge interrupts, and whether flags should be specified is up the interrupt controller's DT binding. 2021-01-11dt-bindings: Add missing array size constraintsRob Herring
DT properties which can have multiple entries need to specify what the entries are and define how many entries there can be. In the case of only a single entry, just 'maxItems: 1' is sufficient. Add the missing entry constraints. These were found with a modified meta-schema. Unfortunately, there are a few cases where the size constraints are not defined such as common bindings, so the meta-schema can't be part of the normal checks. 2020-09-14dt-bindings: timer: exynos4210-mct: Add missing clocksKrzysztof Kozlowski
The Exynos Multi Core Timer driver requires two clocks. This was never documented in the binding. Add it to fix dtschema warnings like: arch/arm64/boot/dts/exynos/exynos5433-tm2.dt.yaml: timer@101c0000: 'clock-names', 'clocks' do not match any of the regexes: 'pinctrl-[0-9]+' Signed-off-by: Krzysztof Kozlowski <krzk@kernel.org> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20200903191311.12293-2-krzk@kernel.org Signed-off-by: Rob Herring <robh@kernel.org>
2020-09-08dt-bindings: timers: sp-804: Convert to json-schemaAndre Przywara
This converts the DT binding documentation for the ARM SP-804 timer IP over to json-schema. Most properties are just carried over, the clocks property requirement (either one or three clocks) is now formalised and enforced. As the former binding didn't specify clock-names, and there is no common name used by the existing DTs, I refrained from adding them in detail (just allowing the property). The requirement for the APB clock is enforced by the primecell binding already. 2020-08-14dt-bindings: Whitespace clean-ups in schema filesRob Herring
Clean-up incorrect indentation, extra spaces, long lines, and missing EOF newline in schema files. Most of the clean-ups are for list indentation which should always be 2 spaces more than the preceding keyword. Found with yamllint (which I plan to integrate into the checks).
