2014-05-29brcmutil: assure unused bits are cleared in 11n chanspecArend van Spriel
The firmware channel specification is a bitfield using a 16-bit integer, but only 14 lsb are used. Upon encoding this value assure all 16 bits are cleared. 2014-05-29brcmfmac: introduce asynchronous firmware loadingArend van Spriel
The driver needs firmware to be loaded to the device, which is done through the firmware class API. The synchronous call request_firmware() need root filesystem to be mounted and/or user-mode helper. These may not be avaliable on the moment it is called. Instead use request_firmware_nowait(). This patch adds chandef_to_chanspec() function used in IBSS join and starting AP operation. However, it introduced a sparse warning because the function is only called from within the source file wl_cfg80211.c. 2014-05-29brcmfmac: reduce log level for invalid scheduled scan requestArend van Spriel
When a regular scan does not return any networks user-space does request a scheduled scan without any matchset or ssid. This can not be handled by the firmware so we return -EINVAL. However, as this request is done let us not add an error message to the log. 2014-05-29at76c50x-usb: Make WEP encryption working.Andrea Merello
Currently the driver uses HW encryption. Whenever mac80211 calls the set_key() callback the driver restarts the whole HW configuration procedure, in order to set (also) the new WEP key. However, by doing this, it causes the card to loose association information, and the HW becomes unable to communicate with the BSS. This patch adds support for sending another HW command, that sets only the wep key, instead of resetting all. Mac80211 key-set requests are thus handled via this new command. [ 9848.229514] WARNING: CPU: 1 PID: 627 at lib/dma-debug.c:1153 check_for_stack+0xa4/0xf0() [ 9848.237678] ehci-pci 0000:00:04.1: DMA-API: device driver maps memory fromstack [addr=ffff88006c80da01] This is due to at76c50x-usb driver passing buffers allocated on the stack to the USB layer, that attempts DMA. This occurs is several places. This patch fixes the problem by allocating those buffers via kmalloc. Since this adds some kfree() before leaving a couple of functions, I caught the occasion to clean-up the exit path on error. 2014-05-29firewire: revert to 4 GB RDMA, fix protocols using Memory SpaceStefan Richter
Undo a feature introduced in v3.14 by commit fcd46b34425d "firewire: Enable remote DMA above 4 GB". That change raised the minimum address at which protocol drivers and user programs can register for request reception from 0x0001'0000'0000 to 0x8000'0000'0000. It turned out that at least one vendor-specific protocol exists which uses lower addresses: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76921 For the time being, revert most of commit fcd46b34425d so that affected protocols work like with kernel v3.13 and before. Just keep the valid documentation parts from the regressing commit, and the ability to identify controllers which could be programmed to accept >32 bit physical DMA addresses. The rest of fcd46b34425d should probably be brought back as an optional instead of default feature. 2014-05-29i40e: relax the firmware API version checkShannon Nelson
As long as the Firmware isn't reporting a higher API major version number than what the driver knows about, the driver does not need to worry as much about greater minor numbers. The API changes minor numbers when things get added to the API, but no existing structs or calls are changed. The driver has the option of warning that the minor numbers don't match. This will allow a little more flexibility in handling newer NICs and NVMs in the field. 2014-05-29i40evf: don't use RESETTING state during reinitMitch Williams
The RESETTING state means that a Catastrophic Hardware Bad Thing is happening and the driver need to tiptoe around and not use the admin queue or registers or anything like that. On the other hand, a reinit is no big deal and we can use the admin queue, and we should. So don't set the state to RESETTING here. This fixes a Tx hang and FW crash that happens after setting the MTU on a VF. 2014-05-29i40evf: don't round Tx rate down to 0Mitch Williams
Because the hardware configures VF Tx rates in increments of 50 Mbps, values smaller than that would be rounded down to 0, which was interpreted as no limit at all. Rather than do this, we round up to 50 Mbps and notify the user. 2014-05-29md: always set MD_RECOVERY_INTR when interrupting a reshape thread.NeilBrown
Commit 8313b8e57f55b15e5b7f7fc5d1630bbf686a9a97 md: fix problem when adding device to read-only array with bitmap. added a called to md_reap_sync_thread() which cause a reshape thread to be interrupted (in particular, it could cause md_thread() to never even call md_do_sync()). However it didn't set MD_RECOVERY_INTR so ->finish_reshape() would not know that the reshape didn't complete. This only happens when mddev->ro is set and normally reshape threads don't run in that situation. But raid5 and raid10 can start a reshape thread during "run" is the array is in the middle of a reshape. They do this even if ->ro is set. So it is best to set MD_RECOVERY_INTR before abortingg the sync thread, just in case. Though it rare for this to trigger a problem it can cause data corruption because the reshape isn't finished properly. So it is suitable for any stable which the offending commit was applied to. 2014-05-28xhci: delete endpoints from bandwidth list before freeing whole deviceMathias Nyman
Lists of endpoints are stored for bandwidth calculation for roothub ports. Make sure we remove all endpoints from the list before the whole device, containing its endpoints list_head stuctures, is freed. This used to be done in the wrong order in xhci_mem_cleanup(), and triggered an oops in resume from S4 (hibernate). A sparse error fixup removed a htons() which is required for the driver to function. This patch puts the htons() back and fixes the sparse warning correctly by changing the left side cast. If mddev->ro is set, md_to_sync will (correctly) abort. However in that case MD_RECOVERY_INTR isn't set. If a RESHAPE had been requested, then ->finish_reshape() will be called and it will think the reshape was successful even though nothing happened. Normally a resync will not be requested if ->ro is set, but if an array is stopped while a reshape is on-going, then when the array is started, the reshape will be restarted. If the array is also set read-only at this point, the reshape will instantly appear to success, resulting in data corruption. Consequently, this patch is suitable for any -stable kernel. 2014-05-27USB: io_ti: fix firmware download on big-endian machines (part 2)Johan Hovold
A recent patch that purported to fix firmware download on big-endian machines failed to add the corresponding sparse annotation to the i2c-header. This was reported by the kbuild test robot. Adding the appropriate annotation revealed another endianess bug related to the i2c-header Size-field in a code path that is exercised when the firmware is actually being downloaded (and not just verified and left untouched unless older than the firmware at hand). This patch adds the required sparse annotation to the i2c-header and makes sure that the Size-field is sent in little-endian byte order during firmware download also on big-endian machines. Note that this patch is only compile-tested, but that there is no functional change for little-endian systems.
