2024-04-11uio: pruss: Remove this driverAndrew Davis
This UIO driver was used to control the PRU processors found on various TI SoCs. It was created before the Remoteproc framework, but now with that we have a standard way to program and manage the PRU processors. The proper PRU Remoteproc driver should be used instead of this driver. This driver only supported the original class of PRUSS (OMAP-L1xx / AM17xx / AM18xx / TMS320C674x / DA8xx) but when these platforms were switched to use Device Tree the support for DT was not added to this driver and so it is now unused/unusable. Support for these platforms can be added to the proper PRU Remoteproc driver if ever needed. Remove this driver. 2024-04-09ASoC: ti: davinci-i2s: Remove the unused clk_input_pin attributeBastien Curutchet
The clk_input_pin attribute of davinci_mcbsp_dev struct is not set since commit 257ade78b601 ("ASoC: davinci-i2s: Convert to use edma-pcm"). Remove the attribute. Keep the behaviour of the MCBSP_CLKR case as MCBSP_CLKR == 0. I can't test the BC_FP format so I added back the initial comment that was removed by commit ec6375533748 ("ASoC: DaVinci: Added selection of clk input pin for McBSP"). This was the last dependency to linux/platform_data/davinci_asp.h so it is not included anymore. Remove the enum mcbsp_clk_input_pin from davinci_asp.h as it is not used anywhere else. 2024-03-28spi: spi-omap2-mcspi.c: revert "Toggle CS after each word"Louis Chauvet
Commit 5cbc7ca987fb ("spi: spi-omap2-mcspi.c: Toggle CS after each word") introduced the toggling of CS after each word for the omap2-mcspi controller. The implementation is not respectful of the actual spi_message content, so the CS can be raised after each word even if the transfer structure asks to keep the CS active for the whole operation. As it is not used anyway in the current Linux tree, it can be safely removed. 2024-02-21net: mdio: mdio-bcm-unimac: Manage clock around I/O accessesFlorian Fainelli
Up until now we have managed not to have the mdio-bcm-unimac manage its clock except during probe and suspend/resume. This works most of the time, except where it does not. With a fully modular build, we can get into a situation whereby the GENET driver is fully registered, and so is the mdio-bcm-unimac driver, however the Ethernet PHY driver is not yet, because it depends on a resource that is not yet available (e.g.: GPIO provider). In that state, the network device is not usable yet, and so to conserve power, the GENET driver will have turned off its "main" clock which feeds its MDIO controller. When the PHY driver finally probes however, we make an access to the PHY registers to e.g.: disable interrupts, and this causes a bus error within the MDIO controller space because the MDIO controller clock(s) are turned off. To remedy that, we manage the clock around all of the I/O accesses to the hardware which are done exclusively during read, write and clock divider configuration. This ensures that the register space is accessible, and this also ensures that there are not unnecessarily elevated reference counts keeping the clocks active when the network device is administratively turned off. It would be the case with the previous way of managing the clock. 2024-02-05wifi: cw1200: Convert to GPIO descriptorsLinus Walleij
The CW1200 uses two GPIOs to control the powerup and reset pins, get these from GPIO descriptors instead of being passed as platform data from boardfiles. The RESET line will need to be marked as active low as we will let gpiolib handle the polarity inversion. The SDIO case is a bit special since the "card" need to be powered up before it gets detected on the SDIO bus and properly probed. Fix this by using board-specific GPIOs assigned to device "NULL". 2023-12-17clk: si5351: allow PLLs to be adjusted without resetAlvin Šipraga
Introduce a new PLL reset mode flag which controls whether or not to reset a PLL after adjusting its rate. The mode can be configured through platform data or device tree. Since commit 6dc669a22c77 ("clk: si5351: Add PLL soft reset"), the driver unconditionally resets a PLL whenever its rate is adjusted. The rationale was that a PLL reset was required to get three outputs working at the same time. Before this change, the driver never reset the PLLs. Commit b26ff127c52c ("clk: si5351: Apply PLL soft reset before enabling the outputs") subsequently introduced an option to reset the PLL when enabling a clock output that sourced it. Here, the rationale was that this is required to get a deterministic phase relationship between multiple output clocks. This clearly shows that it is useful to reset the PLLs in applications where multiple clock outputs are used. However, the Si5351 also allows for glitch-free rate adjustment of its PLLs if one avoids resetting the PLL. In our audio application where a single Si5351 clock output is used to supply a runtime adjustable bit clock, this unconditional PLL reset behaviour introduces unwanted glitches in the clock output. It would appear that the problem being solved in the former commit may be solved by using the optional device tree property introduced in the latter commit, obviating the need for an unconditional PLL reset after rate adjustment. But it's not OK to break the default behaviour of the driver, and it cannot be assumed that all device trees are using the property introduced in the latter commit. Hence, the new behaviour is made opt-in. 2023-12-13Input: omap-keypad - drop optional GPIO supportLinus Walleij
The driver supports passing some GPIO lines for rows and columns through the driver data, but there is no in-kernel user of this. Further the use seems convoluted because the GPIO lines are unused in the driver, then explicitly free:ed when removing it without being requested when probing it, which is assymetric and just a recepie for disaster. Remove the support for these unused GPIOs, if need be support can be reestablished in an organized fashion using GPIO descriptors. 2023-12-07net: dsa: microchip: properly support platform_data probingVladimir Oltean
The ksz driver has bits and pieces of platform_data probing support, but it doesn't work. The conventional thing to do is to have an encapsulating structure for struct dsa_chip_data that gets put into dev->platform_data. This driver expects a struct ksz_platform_data, but that doesn't contain a struct dsa_chip_data as first element, which will obviously not work with dsa_switch_probe() -> dsa_switch_parse(). Pointing dev->platform_data to a struct dsa_chip_data directly is in principle possible, but that doesn't work either. The driver has ksz_switch_detect() to read the device ID from hardware, followed by ksz_check_device_id() to compare it against a predetermined expected value. This protects against early errors in the SPI/I2C communication. With platform_data, the mechanism in ksz_check_device_id() doesn't work and even leads to NULL pointer dereferences, since of_device_get_match_data() doesn't work in that probe path. So obviously, the platform_data support is actually missing, and the existing handling of struct ksz_platform_data is bogus. Complete the support by adding a struct dsa_chip_data as first element, and fixing up ksz_check_device_id() to pick up the platform_data instead of the unavailable of_device_get_match_data(). The early dev->chip_id assignment from ksz_switch_register() is also bogus, because ksz_switch_detect() sets it to an initial value. So remove it. Also, ksz_platform_data :: enabled_ports isn't used anywhere, delete it. 2023-11-28platform/x86: asus-wmi: disable USB0 hub on ROG Ally before suspendLuke D. Jones
ASUS have worked around an issue in XInput where it doesn't support USB selective suspend, which causes suspend issues in Windows. They worked around this by adjusting the MCU firmware to disable the USB0 hub when the screen is switched off during the Microsoft DSM suspend path in ACPI. The issue we have with this however is one of timing - the call the tells the MCU to this isn't able to complete before suspend is done so we call this in a prepare() and add a small msleep() to ensure it is done. This must be done before the screen is switched off to prevent a variety of possible races. Further to this the MCU powersave option must also be disabled as it can cause a number of issues such as: - unreliable resume connection of N-Key - complete loss of N-Key if the power is plugged in while suspended Disabling the powersave option prevents this. Without this the MCU is unable to initialise itself correctly on resume. Signed-off-by: "Luke D. git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/brgl/linux Pull gpio updates from Bartosz Golaszewski: "We don't have any new drivers. The loongson driver is getting extended with support for new models. There's a big refactor of gpio-pca953x and many small improvements to others. The GPIO code in the kernel has acquired a lot of cruft over the years as well as many abusers of the API across the kernel tree. This release cycle we have started a major cleanup and improvement effort that will most likely span several releases. We have started by converting external users of struct gpio_chip to accessing the wrapper around it - struct gpio_device. This is because the latter is reference counted while the former is removed when the provider is unbound. We also removed several instances of drivers accessing private GPIOLIB structures and including the private header from drivers/gpio/. To that end you'll see several commits aimed at different subsystems (acked by relevant maintainers) as well as two merges from the x86/platform tree. We'll then rework the locking in GPIOLIB which currently uses a big spinlock for many different things and could use becoming more fine-grained, especially as it doesn't even get the locking right. We'll also use SRCU for protecting the gpio_chip pointer against in-kernel hot-unplug crashes similar to what we saw triggered from user-space and fixed with semaphores in gpiolib-cdev. The core GPIOLIB is still vulnerable to these use-cases. I'm just mentioning the plans here, this is not part of this PR. You'll see some new instances of using __free(). We've added a gpio_device_put cleanup helper similar to the put_device one introduced by Peter Zijlstra and used it according to the preferred pattern except where it didn't make sense. GPIOLIB core: - provide interfaces allowing users to retrieve, manage and query the reference counted GPIO device instead of accessing the private gpio_chip structure - replace gpiochip_find() with gpio_device_find() - remove unused acpi_get_and_request_gpiod() - improve the ignore_interrupt functionality in GPIO ACPI - correct notifier return codes in gpiolib-of - unexport gpiod_set_transitory() as it's unused outside of core GPIO code - while there are still external users accessing struct gpio_chip, let's make gpiochip_get_desc() public so that they at least use the preferred helper - improve locking for lookup tables - annotate struct linereq with __counted_by - improve GPIOLIB docs - add an OF quirk for LED trigger sources Driver improvements: - convert all GPIO drivers with .remove() callbacks to using the new variant returning void instead of int - stop accessing the GPIOLIB private structures in gpio-mockup, i2c-mux-gpio, hte-tegra194, gpio-sim - use the recommended pattern for autofree variables in gpio-sim - add support for more models to gpio-loongson - use a notifier chain to notify other blocks about interrupts in gpio-eic-sprd instead of looking up GPIO devices on every interrupt - convert gpio-pca953x and gpio-fx6408 to using the maple tree regmap cache - don't include GPIOLIB internal headers in drivers which don't need them - move the ingenic NAND quirk into gpiolib-of - add an ignore interrupt quirk for Peaq C1010 - drop static GPIO base from gpio-omap, gpio-f7188x - use the preferred device_get_match_data() function in drivers that still don't - refactor gpio-pca953x: switch to using DEFINE_SIMPLE_DEV_PM_OPS(), use cleanup helpers, use dev_err_probe() where it makes sense, fully convert to using devres and some other minor tweaks DT bindings: - add support for a new model to gpio-vf610 and update existing properties - add support for more loongson models - add missing support for imx models that are used but undocumented - convert bindings for Intel IXP4xx to schema Minor stuff: - deprecate gpio-mockup in favor of gpio-sim - include missing headers here and there - stop using gpiochip_find() in OMAP1 board files - minor tweaks in gpio-vf610, gpio-hisi - remove unneeded 'extern' specifiers from headers" * tag 'gpio-updates-for-v6.7-rc1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/brgl/linux: (108 commits) hte: tegra194: add GPIOLIB dependency hte: tegra194: don't access struct gpio_chip gpiolib: provide gpio_device_get_base() i2c: mux: gpio: don't fiddle with GPIOLIB internals gpiolib: provide gpiod_to_gpio_device() gpiolib: provide gpio_device_to_device() gpio: hisi: Fix format specifier gpiolib: provide gpio_device_find_by_fwnode() gpio: acpi: remove acpi_get_and_request_gpiod() gpio: Use device_get_match_data() gpio: vf610: update comment for i.MX8ULP and i.MX93 legacy compatibles platform/x86: int3472: Switch to devm_get_gpiod() platform/x86: int3472: Stop using gpiod_toggle_active_low() platform/x86: int3472: Add new skl_int3472_gpiod_get_from_temp_lookup() helper platform/x86: int3472: Add new skl_int3472_fill_gpiod_lookup() helper gpio: vf610: simplify code by dropping data check gpio: vf610: add i.MX8ULP of_device_id entry dt-bindings: gpio: vf610: add i.MX95 compatible dt-bindings: gpio: vf610: correct i.MX8ULP and i.MX93 dt-bindings: gpio: vf610: update gpio-ranges ...

Prepare for the coming implementation by GCC and Clang of the __counted_by attribute.
