2023-02-06drm/virtio: exbuf->fence_fd unmodified on interrupted waitRyan Neph
An interrupted dma_fence_wait() becomes an -ERESTARTSYS returned to userspace ioctl(DRM_IOCTL_VIRTGPU_EXECBUFFER) calls, prompting to retry the ioctl(), but the passed exbuf->fence_fd has been reset to -1, making the retry attempt fail at sync_file_get_fence(). The uapi for DRM_IOCTL_VIRTGPU_EXECBUFFER is changed to retain the passed value for exbuf->fence_fd when returning anything besides a successful result from the ioctl. 2023-01-26habanalabs: add uapi to flush inbound HBM transactionsOhad Sharabi
When doing p2p with a NIC device, the NIC needs to make sure all the writes to the HBM (through the PCI bar of the Gaudi device) were flushed. It can be done by either the NIC or the host reading through the PCI bar. To support the host side, we supply a simple uapi to perform this flush through the driver, because the user can't create such a transaction by itself (the PCI bar isn't exposed to normal users). 2023-01-19accel/ivpu: Add command buffer submission logicJacek Lawrynowicz
Each of the user contexts has two command queues, one for compute engine and one for the copy engine. Command queues are allocated and registered in the device when the first job (command buffer) is submitted from the user space to the VPU device. The userspace provides a list of GEM buffer object handles to submit to the VPU, the driver resolves buffer handles, pins physical memory if needed, increments ref count for each buffer and stores pointers to buffer objects in the ivpu_job objects that track jobs submitted to the device. The VPU signals job completion with an asynchronous message that contains the job id passed to firmware when the job was submitted. Currently, the driver supports simple scheduling logic where jobs submitted from user space are immediately pushed to the VPU device command queues. In the future, it will be extended to use hardware base scheduling and/or drm_sched. 2023-01-19accel/ivpu: Add GEM buffer object managementJacek Lawrynowicz
Adds four types of GEM-based BOs for the VPU: - shmem - internal - prime All types are implemented as struct ivpu_bo, based on struct drm_gem_object. VPU address is allocated when buffer is created except for imported prime buffers that allocate it in BO_INFO IOCTL due to missing file_priv arg in gem_prime_import callback. Internal buffers are pinned on creation, the rest of buffers types can be pinned on demand (in SUBMIT IOCTL). Buffer VPU address, allocated pages and mappings are released when the buffer is destroyed. Eviction mechanism is planned for future versions. Add two new IOCTLs: BO_CREATE, BO_INFO Signed-off-by: Jacek Lawrynowicz <jacek.lawrynowicz@linux.intel.com> Reviewed-by: Oded Gabbay <ogabbay@kernel.org> Reviewed-by: Jeffrey Hugo <quic_jhugo@quicinc.com> Signed-off-by: Daniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20230117092723.60441-4-jacek.lawrynowicz@linux.intel.com
2023-01-19accel/ivpu: Add Intel VPU MMU supportJacek Lawrynowicz
VPU Memory Management Unit is based on ARM MMU-600. It allows the creation of multiple virtual address spaces for the device and map noncontinuous host memory (there is no dedicated memory on the VPU). Address space is implemented as a struct ivpu_mmu_context, it has an ID, drm_mm allocator for VPU addresses and struct ivpu_mmu_pgtable that holds actual 3-level, 4KB page table. Context with ID 0 (global context) is created upon driver initialization and it's mainly used for mapping memory required to execute the firmware. Contexts with non-zero IDs are user contexts allocated each time the devices is open()-ed and they map command buffers and other workload-related memory. Workloads executing in a given contexts have access only to the memory mapped in this context. This patch is has two main files: - ivpu_mmu_context.c handles MMU page tables and memory mapping - ivpu_mmu.c implements a driver that programs the MMU device Co-developed-by: Karol Wachowski <karol.wachowski@linux.intel.com> Signed-off-by: Karol Wachowski <karol.wachowski@linux.intel.com> Co-developed-by: Krystian Pradzynski <krystian.pradzynski@linux.intel.com> Signed-off-by: Krystian Pradzynski <krystian.pradzynski@linux.intel.com> Signed-off-by: Jacek Lawrynowicz <jacek.lawrynowicz@linux.intel.com> Reviewed-by: Oded Gabbay <ogabbay@kernel.org> Reviewed-by: Jeffrey Hugo <quic_jhugo@quicinc.com> Signed-off-by: Daniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20230117092723.60441-3-jacek.lawrynowicz@linux.intel.com
2023-01-19accel/ivpu: Introduce a new DRM driver for Intel VPUJacek Lawrynowicz
VPU stands for Versatile Processing Unit and it's a CPU-integrated inference accelerator for Computer Vision and Deep Learning applications. The VPU device consist of following components: - Buttress - provides CPU to VPU integration, interrupt, frequency and power management. - Memory Management Unit (based on ARM MMU-600) - translates VPU to host DMA addresses, isolates user workloads. - RISC based microcontroller - executes firmware that provides job execution API for the kernel-mode driver - Neural Compute Subsystem (NCS) - does the actual work, provides Compute and Copy engines. - Network on Chip (NoC) - network fabric connecting all the components This driver supports VPU IP v2.7 integrated into Intel Meteor Lake client CPUs (14th generation). Module sources are at drivers/accel/ivpu and module name is "intel_vpu.ko". This patch includes only very besic functionality: - module, PCI device and IRQ initialization - register definitions and low level register manipulation functions - SET/GET_PARAM ioctls - power up without firmware Co-developed-by: Krystian Pradzynski <krystian.pradzynski@linux.intel.com> Signed-off-by: Krystian Pradzynski <krystian.pradzynski@linux.intel.com> Signed-off-by: Jacek Lawrynowicz <jacek.lawrynowicz@linux.intel.com> Reviewed-by: Oded Gabbay <ogabbay@kernel.org> Reviewed-by: Jeffrey Hugo <quic_jhugo@quicinc.com> Signed-off-by: Daniel Vetter <daniel.vetter@ffwll.ch> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20230117092723.60441-2-jacek.lawrynowicz@linux.intel.com

It's a bit a FAQ, and we really can't claim to be the authoritative source for allocating these numbers used in many standard extensions if we tell closed source or vendor stacks in general to go away. 2022-11-09drm/amdgpu: Set MTYPE in PTE based on BO flagsFelix Kuehling
The same BO may need different MTYPEs and SNOOP flags in PTEs depending on its current location relative to the mapping GPU. Setting MTYPEs from clients ahead of time is not practical for coherent memory sharing. Instead determine the correct MTYPE for the desired coherence model and current BO location when updating the page tables. To maintain backwards compatibility with MTYPE-selection in AMDGPU_VA_OP_MAP, the coherence-model-based MTYPE selection is only applied if it chooses an MTYPE other than MTYPE_NC (the default). Add two AMDGPU_GEM_CREATE_... flags to indicate the coherence model. The default if no flag is specified is non-coherent (i.e. coarse-grained coherent at dispatch boundaries). Update amdgpu_amdkfd_gpuvm.c to use this new method to choose the correct MTYPE depending on the current memory location. v2: * check that bo is not NULL (e.g. PRT mappings) * Fix missing ~ bitmask in gmc_v11_0.c v3: * squash in "drm/amdgpu: Inherit coherence flags on dmabuf import" Suggested-by: Christian König <christian.koenig@amd.com> Signed-off-by: Felix Kuehling <Felix.Kuehling@amd.com> Acked-by: Christian König <christian.koenig@amd.com> Signed-off-by: Alex Deucher <alexander.deucher@amd.com>

2022-10-27drm/i915/perf: Apply Wa_18013179988Umesh Nerlige Ramappa
OA reports in the OA buffer contain an OA timestamp field that helps user calculate delta between 2 OA reports. The calculation relies on the CS timestamp frequency to convert the timestamp value to nanoseconds. The CS timestamp frequency is a function of the CTC_SHIFT value in RPM_CONFIG0. In DG2, OA unit assumes that the CTC_SHIFT is 3, instead of using the actual value from RPM_CONFIG0. At the user level, this results in an error in calculating delta between 2 OA reports since the OA timestamp is not shifted in the same manner as CS timestamp. Also the periodicity of the reports is different from what the user configured because of mismatch in the CS and OA frequencies. The issue also affects MI_REPORT_PERF_COUNT command. To resolve this, return actual OA timestamp frequency to the user in i915_getparam_ioctl, so that user can calculate the right OA exponent as well as interpret the reports correctly. 2022-10-20drm/panfrost: replace endian-specific types with native onesSteven Price
__le32 and __le64 types aren't portable and are not available on FreeBSD (which uses the same uAPI). Instead of attempting to always output little endian, just use native endianness in the dumps. Tools can detect the endianness in use by looking at the 'magic' field, but equally we don't expect big-endian to be used with Mali (there are no known implementations out there). 2022-10-20drm/panfrost: Remove type name from internal structsSteven Price
The two structs internal to struct panfrost_dump_object_header were named, but sadly that is incompatible with C++, causing an error: "an anonymous union may only have public non-static data members". However nothing refers to struct pan_reg_hdr and struct pan_bomap_hdr and there's no need to export these definitions, so lets drop them. This fixes the C++ build error with the minimum change in userspace API. 2022-10-14drm/i915: enable PS64 support for DG2Matthew Auld
It turns out that on production DG2/ATS HW we should have support for PS64. This feature allows to provide a 64K TLB hint at the PTE level, which is a lot more flexible than the current method of enabling 64K GTT pages for the entire page-table, since that leads to all kinds of annoying restrictions, as documented in: commit caa574ffc4aaf4f29b890223878c63e2e7772f62 Author: Matthew Auld <matthew.auld@intel.com> Date: Sat Feb 19 00:17:49 2022 +0530 drm/i915/uapi: document behaviour for DG2 64K support On discrete platforms like DG2, we need to support a minimum page size of 64K when dealing with device local-memory. This is quite tricky for various reasons, so try to document the new implicit uapi for this. With PS64, we can now drop the 2M GTT alignment restriction, and instead only require 64K or larger when dealing with lmem. We still use the compact-pt layout when possible, but only when we are certain that this doesn't interfere with userspace. Note that this is a change in uAPI behaviour, but hopefully shouldn't be a concern (IGT is at least able to autodetect the alignment), since we are only making the GTT alignment constraint less restrictive. 2022-10-06drm/fourcc: add Vivante tile status modifiersLucas Stach
The tile status modifiers can be combined with all of the usual color buffer modifiers. When they are present an additional plane is added to the surfaces to share the tile status buffer. The TS modifiers describe the interpretation of the tag bits in this buffer. 2022-10-03drm/i915/huc: better define HuC status getparam possible return values.Daniele Ceraolo Spurio
The current HuC status getparam return values are a bit confusing in regards to what happens in some scenarios. In particular, most of the error cases cause the ioctl to return an error, but a couple of them, INIT_FAIL and LOAD_FAIL, are not explicitly handled and neither is their expected return value documented; these 2 error cases therefore end up into the catch-all umbrella of the "HuC not loaded" case, with this case therefore including both some error scenarios and the load in progress one. The updates included in this patch change the handling so that all error cases behave the same way, i.e. return an errno code, and so that the HuC load in progress case is unambiguous. The patch also includes a small change to the FW init path to make sure we always transition to an error state if something goes wrong.
