2023-10-23tools: ynl-gen: render rsp_parse() helpers if cmd has only dump opJiri Pirko
Due to the check in RenderInfo class constructor, type_consistent flag is set to False to avoid rendering the same response parsing helper for do and dump ops. However, in case there is no do, the helper needs to be rendered for dump op. So split check to achieve that. 2023-10-23tools: ynl-gen: introduce support for bitfield32 attribute typeJiri Pirko
Introduce support for attribute type bitfield32. Note that since the generated code works with struct nla_bitfield32, the generator adds netlink.h to the list of includes for userspace headers in case any bitfield32 is present. Note that this is added only to genetlink-legacy scheme as requested by Jakub Kicinski. 2023-10-23tools: ynl-gen: change spacing around __attribute__Jakub Kicinski
checkpatch gets confused and treats __attribute__ as a function call. It complains about white space before "(": WARNING:SPACING: space prohibited between function name and open parenthesis '(' + struct netdev_queue_get_rsp obj __attribute__ ((aligned (8))); No spaces wins in the kernel: $ git grep 'attribute__((.*aligned(' | wc -l 480 $ git grep 'attribute__ ((.*aligned (' | wc -l 110 $ git grep 'attribute__ ((.*aligned(' | wc -l 94 $ git grep 'attribute__((.*aligned (' | wc -l 63 So, whatever, change the codegen. Note that checkpatch also thinks we should use __aligned(), but this is user space code. 2023-10-19tools: ynl-gen: support full range of min/max checks for integer valuesJakub Kicinski
Extend the support to full range of min/max checks. None of the existing YNL families required complex integer validation. The support is less than trivial, because we try to keep struct nla_policy tiny the min/max members it holds in place are s16. Meaning we can only express checks in range of s16. For larger ranges we need to define a structure and link it in the policy. Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20231018163917.2514503-3-kuba@kernel.org Signed-off-by: Jakub Kicinski <kuba@kernel.org>

2023-10-17tools: ynl: fix converting flags to names after recent cleanupJakub Kicinski
I recently cleaned up specs to not specify enum-as-flags when target enum is already defined as flags. YNL Python library did not convert flags, unfortunately, so this caused breakage for Stan and Willem. Note that the nlspec.py abstraction already hides the differences between flags and enums (value vs user_value), so the changes are pretty trivial. 2023-08-25tools: ynl-gen: fix uAPI generation after tempfile changesJakub Kicinski
We use a tempfile for code generation, to avoid wiping the target file out if the code generator crashes. File contents are copied from tempfile to actual destination at the end of main(). uAPI generation is relatively simple so when generating the uAPI header we return from main() early, and never reach the "copy code over" stage. Since commit under Fixes uAPI headers are not updated by ynl-gen. Move the copy/commit of the code into CodeWriter, to make it easier to call at any point in time. Hook it into the destructor to make sure we don't miss calling it. 2023-07-26tools: ynl-gen: fix enum index in _decode_enum(..)Arkadiusz Kubalewski
Remove wrong index adjustment, which is leftover from adding support for sparse enums. enum.entries_by_val() function shall not subtract the start-value, as it is indexed with real enum value. 2023-06-22tools: ynl: improve the direct-include header guard logicJakub Kicinski
Przemek suggests that I shouldn't accuse GCC of witchcraft, there is a simpler explanation for why we need manual define. scripts/headers_install.sh modifies the guard, removing _UAPI. That's why including a kernel header from the tree and from /usr leads to duplicate definitions. This also solves the mystery of why I needed to include the header conditionally. I had the wrong guards for most cases but ethtool. 2023-06-15tools: ynl: work around stale system headersJakub Kicinski
The inability to include the uAPI headers directly in tools/ is one of the bigger annoyances of compiling user space code. Most projects trade the pain for smaller inconvenience of having to copy the headers under tools/include. In case of netlink headers I think that we can avoid both. Netlink family headers are simple and should be self-contained. We can try to twiddle the Makefile a little to force-include just the family header, and use system headers for the rest. This works fairly well. There are two warts - for some reason if we specify -include $path/family.h as a compilation flag, the #ifdef header guard does not seem to work. So we need to throw the guard in on the command line as well. Seems like GCC detects that the header is different and tries to include both. Second problem is that make wants hash sign to be escaped or not depending on the version. Sigh. Signed-off-by: Jakub Kicinski <kuba@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

Instead of reimplementing policies in MutliAttr for every underlying type forward the calls to the base type. This will be needed for DPLL which uses a multi-attr nest, and currently gets an invalid NLA_NEST policy generated.
