2025-01-27wifi: mt76: move napi_enable() from under BHJakub Kicinski
mt76 does a lot of: local_bh_disable(); napi_enable(...napi); napi_schedule(...napi); local_bh_enable(); local_bh_disable() is not a real lock, its most likely taken because napi_schedule() requires that we invoke softirqs at some point. napi_enable() needs to take a mutex, so move it from under the BH protection. 2025-01-14wifi: mt76: mt7925: add handler to hif suspend/resume eventQuan Zhou
When the system suspend or resume, the WiFi driver sends an hif_ctrl command to the firmware and waits for an event. Due to changes in the event format reported by the chip, the current mt7925's driver does not account for these changes, resulting in command timeout. Add flow to handle hif_ctrl event to avoid command timeout. We also exented API mt76_connac_mcu_set_hif_suspend for connac3 this time. 2024-06-20wifi: mt76: un-embedd netdev from mt76_devBreno Leitao
Embedding net_device into structures prohibits the usage of flexible arrays in the net_device structure. For more details, see the discussion at [1]. Un-embed the net_devices from struct mt76_dev by converting them into pointers, and allocating them dynamically. Use the leverage alloc_netdev_dummy() to allocate the net_device object at mt76_dma_init(). The free of the device occurs at mt76_dma_cleanup(). 2024-02-22wifi: mt76: mt7921: fix suspend issue on MediaTek COB platformMichael Lo
MediaTek's controller driver on COB platform (e.g. MT8188) is capable of controlling power supplies and reset pin of a component (e.g. a WIFI chip) in power-on and power-off process. Due to this optional feature, mt76 need to inform controller that mt76 need to keep power during suspend. Otherwise WIFI will be powered off when system enters suspend process. The "wakeup-source" property was used for the device that need this to go into suspend mode so that mt76 suspend handler doesn't fail and the system is able to enter into a suspend state. An example: wifi: mt7921@0 { wifi0{ reg = <0x0000 0 0 0 0>; wakeup-source; }; }; Signed-off-by: Michael Lo <michael.lo@mediatek.com> Signed-off-by: Ming Yen Hsieh <MingYen.Hsieh@mediatek.com> Signed-off-by: Felix Fietkau <nbd@nbd.name>

2023-12-11wifi: mt76: mt7921: fix CLC command timeout when suspend/resumeMing Yen Hsieh
When enter suspend/resume while in a connected state, the upper layer will trigger disconnection before entering suspend, and at the same time, it will trigger regd_notifier() and update CLC, causing the CLC event to not be received due to suspend, resulting in a command timeout. Therefore, the update of CLC is postponed until resume, to ensure data consistency and avoid the occurrence of command timeout. We actually don't need the reserve the 512 entries for the MCU firmware download Rx queue because the queue was only used in the firmware download phase to save the most of space and the reduction can significantly help with reducing latency we spent by ~20% further in resetting the Rx queue as the device was waking up from deep sleep mode. 2023-04-17wifi: mt76: mt7921e: stop chip reset worker in unregister hookQuan Zhou
If the chip reset worker is triggered during the remove process, the chip DMA may not be properly pushed back to the idle state. This can lead to corruption of the DMA flow due to the chip reset. Therefore, it is necessary to stop the chip reset before the DMA is finalized. To avoid resetting the chip after the reset worker is cancelled, use __mt7921_mcu_drv_pmctrl() instead of mt7921_mcu_drv_pmctrl(). It is safe to ignore the pm mutex because the pm worker and wake worker have already been cancelled. 2023-04-17wifi: mt76: mt7921e: Set memory space enable in PCI_COMMAND if unsetMario Limonciello
When the BIOS has been configured for Fast Boot, systems with mt7921e have non-functional wifi. Turning on Fast boot caused both bus master enable and memory space enable bits in PCI_COMMAND not to get configured. The mt7921 driver already sets bus master enable, but explicitly check and set memory access enable as well to fix this problem. 2023-04-17wifi: mt76: mt7921: fix PCI DMA hang after rebootDeren Wu
mt7921 just stop some workers and clean up chip status before reboot. In stress test, there are working activities still running at the period of .shutdown callback and that would cause some hosts cannot recover DMA after reboot. To avoid the floating state in reboot, we use mt7921_pci_remove() to fully deinit all resources. 2022-12-01wifi: mt76: mt7921: introduce chanctx supportSean Wang
The firmware can have the capability to manage the channel context scheduling on multiple roles running on the device including Station, AP and P2P GC/GO mode (will be extended based on the future patchset) to help users sharing the network with others on a single device. The firmware is able to support the channel chanctx up to 2 interface simultaneously running on the different channels. Another thing to be noted is that before the driver is going sent out the management frames, the driver has to get the privilege from the firmware to occupy the current channel context until the frame handshake is completed and then get the privilege back to the firmware. 2022-09-15wifi: mt76: mt7921e: fix race issue between reset and suspend/resumeSean Wang
It is unexpected that the reset work is running simultaneously with the suspend or resume context and it is possible that reset work is still running even after mt7921 is suspended if we don't fix the race issue. Thus, the suspend procedure should be waiting until the reset is completed at the beginning and ignore the subsequent the reset requests. In case there is an error that happens during either suspend or resume handler, we will schedule a reset task to recover the error before returning the error code to ensure we can immediately fix the error there.
