2025-11-03dt-bindings: gpu: mali-valhall-csf: add mediatek,mt8196-mali variantNicolas Frattaroli
The Mali-based GPU on the MediaTek MT8196 SoC uses a separate MCU to control the power and frequency of the GPU. This is modelled as a power domain and clock provider. It lets us omit the OPP tables from the device tree, as those can now be enumerated at runtime from the MCU. Add the necessary schema logic to handle what this SoC expects in terms of clocks and power-domains. 2025-10-21dt-bindings: gpu: img,powervr-rogue: Rework the allOf sectionMarek Vasut
Rework the current allOf: section such that all handling of clocks/clock-names properties happens first, and all handling of power-domains/power-domain-names happens second. This allows the allOf section to limit various GPU models to matching clocks count in the first half, and apply the same for power-domains count in the second half, without conflating the two limits together. This makes addition of GPU models with different clocks and power-domains count easier. No functional change intended. 2025-09-01dt-bindings: gpu: img,powervr-rogue: Add TH1520 GPU supportMichal Wilczynski
Rework the PowerVR Rogue GPU binding to use an explicit, per variant style for defining power domain properties and add support for the T-HEAD TH1520 SoC's GPU. To improve clarity and precision, the binding is refactored so that power domain items are listed explicitly for each variant [1]. The previous method relied on an implicit, positional mapping between the `power-domains` and `power-domain-names` properties. This change replaces the generic rules with self contained if/then blocks for each GPU variant, making the relationship between power domains and their names explicit and unambiguous. The generic if block for img,img-rogue, which previously required power-domains and power-domain-names for all variants, is removed. Instead, each specific GPU variant now defines its own power domain requirements within a self-contained if/then block, making the schema more explicit. This new structure is then used to add support for the `thead,th1520-gpu`. While its BXM-4-64 IP has two conceptual power domains, the TH1520 SoC integrates them behind a single power gate. The new binding models this with a specific rule that enforces a single `power-domains` entry and disallows the `power-domain-names` property. 2025-04-24dt-bindings: gpu: Add 'resets' property for GPU initializationMichal Wilczynski
All IMG Rogue GPUs include a reset line that participates in the power-up sequence. On some SoCs (e.g., T-Head TH1520 and Banana Pi BPI-F3), this reset line is exposed and must be driven explicitly to ensure proper initialization. 2025-04-15dt-bindings: gpu: img: Future-proofing enhancementsMatt Coster
The first compatible strings added for the AXE-1-16M are not sufficient to accurately describe all the IMG Rogue GPUs. The current "img,img-axe" string refers to the entire family of Series AXE GPUs, but this is primarily a marketing term and does not denote a level of hardware similarity any greater than just "Rogue". The more specific "img,img-axe-1-16m" string refers to individual AXE-1-16M GPU. For example, unlike the rest of the Series AXE GPUs, the AXE-1-16M only uses a single power domain. The situation is actually slightly worse than described in the first paragraph, since many "series" (such as Series BXS found in the TI AM68 among others and added later in this series) contain cores with both Rogue and Volcanic architectures. Besides attempting to move away from vague groupings defined only by marketing terms, we want to draw a line between properties inherent to the IP core and choices made by the silicon vendor at integration time. For instance, the number of power domains is a property of the IP core, whereas the decision to use one or multiple clocks is a vendor one. In the original compatible strings, we must use "ti,am62-gpu" to constrain both of these properties since the number of power domains cannot be fixed for "img,img-axe". Work is currently underway to add support for volcanic-based Imagination GPUs, for which bindings will be added in "img,powervr-volcanic.yaml". As alluded to previously, the split between rogue and volcanic cores is non-obvious at times, so add a generic top-level "img,img-rogue" compatible string here to allow for simpler differentiation in devicetrees without referring back to the bindings. The currently supported GPU (AXE-1-16M) only requires a single power domain. Subsequent patches will add support for BXS-4-64 MC1, which has two power domains. Add infrastructure now to allow for this. Also allow the dma-coherent property to be added to IMG Rogue GPUs, which are DMA devices. The decision for coherency is made at integration time and this property should be applied wherever it accurately describes the vendor integration. Note that the new required properties for power domains are conditional on the new base compatible string to avoid an ABI break. In order to enforce per-SoC register rules, add per-compatible restrictions. For example, V3D 3.3 (used in brcm,7268-v3d) has a cache controller (GCA), which is not present in other V3D generations. Declaring these differences helps ensure the DTB accurately reflect the hardware design. The example was using an incorrect order for the register names. 2025-02-21dt-bindings: gpu: mali-bifrost: Add compatible for RZ/V2H(P) SoCLad Prabhakar
Add a compatible string for the Renesas RZ/V2H(P) SoC variants that include a Mali-G31 GPU. These variants share the same restrictions on interrupts, clocks, and power domains as the RZ/G2L SoC, so extend the existing schema validation accordingly. 2024-03-01dt-bindings: gpu: mali-valhall-csf: Add support for Arm Mali CSF GPUsLiviu Dudau
Arm has introduced a new v10 GPU architecture that replaces the Job Manager interface with a new Command Stream Frontend. It adds firmware driven command stream queues that can be used by kernel and user space to submit jobs to the GPU. Add the initial schema for the device tree that is based on support for RK3588 SoC. The minimum number of clocks is one for the IP, but on Rockchip platforms they will tend to expose the semi-independent clocks for better power management. v6: - Add Maxime's and Heiko's acks v5: - Move the opp-table node under the gpu node v4: - Fix formatting issue v3: - Cleanup commit message to remove redundant text - Added opp-table property and re-ordered entries - Clarified power-domains and power-domain-names requirements for RK3588. - Cleaned up example Note: power-domains and power-domain-names requirements for other platforms are still work in progress, hence the bindings are left incomplete here. v2: - New commit Signed-off-by: Liviu Dudau <liviu.dudau@arm.com> Cc: Krzysztof Kozlowski <krzysztof.kozlowski+dt@linaro.org> Cc: Rob Herring <robh+dt@kernel.org> Cc: Conor Dooley <conor+dt@kernel.org> Cc: devicetree@vger.kernel.org Signed-off-by: Boris Brezillon <boris.brezillon@collabora.com> Reviewed-by: Rob Herring <robh@kernel.org> Acked-by: Maxime Ripard <mripard@kernel.org> Acked-by: Heiko Stuebner <heiko@sntech.de> Link: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/msgid/20240229162230.2634044-14-boris.brezillon@collabora.com

This binding will be used for GPUs starting from Series6 (Rogue) and later. A different binding document will describe Series5. With that the name "img, powervr" is too generic, rename to "img,powervr-rogue" to avoid confusion.
