Fix a shortcoming in the bindings that doesn't allow for a separate
external clock.
The AXI PWMGEN IP block has a compile option ASYNC_CLK_EN that allows
the use of an external clock for the PWM output separate from the AXI
clock that runs the peripheral.
This was missed in the original bindings and so users were writing dts
files where the one and only clock specified would be the external
clock, if there was one, incorrectly missing the separate AXI clock.
The correct bindings are that the AXI clock is always required and the
external clock is optional (must be given only when HDL compile option
ASYNC_CLK_EN=1).

Platforms can have a standardized connector/expansion slot that exposes
PWMs signals to expansion boards.
A nexus node [1] allows to remap a phandle list in a consumer node
through a connector node in a generic way. With this remapping, the
consumer node needs to know only about the nexus node. Resources behind
the nexus node are decoupled by the nexus node itself.
This is particularly useful when this consumer is described in a
device-tree overlay. Indeed, to have the exact same overlay reused with
several base systems the overlay needs to known only about the connector
is going to be applied to without any knowledge of the SoC (or the
component providing the resource) available in the system.
As an example, suppose 3 PWMs connected to a connector. The connector
PWM 0 and 2 comes from the PWM 1 and 3 of the pwm-controller1. The
connector PWM 1 comes from the PWM 4 of the pwm-controller2. An
expansion device is connected to the connector and uses the connector
PMW 1.
Nexus node support in PWM allows the following description:
soc {
soc_pwm1: pwm-controller1 {
#pwm-cells = <3>;
};
soc_pwm2: pwm-controller2 {
#pwm-cells = <3>;
};
};
connector: connector {
#pwm-cells = <3>;
pwm-map = <0 0 0 &soc_pwm1 1 0 0>,
<1 0 0 &soc_pwm2 4 0 0>,
<2 0 0 &soc_pwm1 3 0 0>;
pwm-map-mask = <0xffffffff 0x0 0x0>;
pwm-map-pass-thru = <0x0 0xffffffff 0xffffffff>;
};
expansion_device {
pwms = <&connector 1 57000 0>;
};
>From the expansion device point of view, the PWM requested is the PWM 1
available at the connector regardless of the exact PWM wired to this
connector PWM 1. Thanks to nexus node remapping described at connector
node, this PWM is the PWM 4 of the pwm-controller2.

When commit 89650a1e3b6f ("dt-bindings: pwm: Convert PWM bindings
to json-schema") converted the pwm provider section of the text binding
to dt-schema it also updated all references to pwm.txt in pwm provider
bindings to pwm.yaml.
Most pwm provider bindings had a reference to pwm.txt as it contains a
description of what the cells in #pwm-cells are, albeit in the consumer
section of the document. Only information in the provider section of the
document was moved to the yaml binding, and it contains no information
about the cell format, making all references to it for the cell format
unhelpful.

Pull more ARM SoC updates from Arnd Bergmann:
"These are changes that for some reason ended up not making it into the
first four branches but that should still make it into 6.9:
- A rework of the omap clock support that touches both drivers and
device tree files
- The reset controller branch changes that had a dependency on late
bugfixes. Merging them here avoids a backmerge of 6.8-rc5 into the
drivers branch
- The RISC-V/starfive, RISC-V/microchip and ARM/Broadcom devicetree
changes that got delayed and needed some extra time in linux-next
for wider testing"

The binding that is used up to now describe which input the PWM
channel multiplexer should pick among its possible parents,
which are hardcoded in the driver. This isn't a good binding in
the sense that it should describe hardware but not usage.
Add a new binding deprecating the old one that uses clocks in a
better way and how clocks are usually used today: The list of
clocks describe the inputs of the PWM block as they are realised
in hardware.
So deprecate the old bindings and introduce a compatible per SoC
family to replace these.

s4 has been added to the compatible list while converting the Amlogic PWM
binding documentation from txt to yaml.
However, on the s4, the clock bindings have different meaning compared to
the previous SoCs.
On the previous SoCs the clock bindings used to describe which input the
PWM channel multiplexer should pick among its possible parents.
This is very much tied to the driver implementation, instead of describing
the HW for what it is. When support for the Amlogic PWM was first added,
how to deal with clocks through DT was not as clear as it nowadays.
The Linux driver now ignores this DT setting, but still relies on the
hard-coded list of clock sources.
On the s4, the input multiplexer is gone. The clock bindings actually
describe the clock as it exists, not a setting. The property has a
different meaning, even if it is still 2 clocks and it would pass the check
when support is actually added.
Also the s4 cannot work if the clocks are not provided, so the property is
no longer optional.
Finally, for once it makes sense to see the input as being numbered
somehow. No need to bother with clock-names on the s4 type of PWM.
