https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/broonie/sound into for-next ASoC: Updates for v6.15 This is a very big release due to a combination of some big new work, mainly new drivers and generic SoundWire support, and some wide ranging cleanup work that made small changes to a lot of drivers. - Morimoto-san has completed the conversion to use modern terminology for the clocking configuration, and several other cleanups with narrower impact. - All the power management operation configuration was updated to use current idioms by Takashi Iwai. - Clarification of the control operations from Charles Keepax. - Prepartory work for more generic SoundWire SCDA controls from Charles Keepax. - Support for AMD ACP 7.x, AWINC WM88166, Everest ES8388, Intel AVS PEAKVOL and GAIN DSP modules Mediatek MT8188 DMIC, NXP i.MX95, nVidia Tegra interconnects, Rockchip RK3588 S/PDIF, Texas Instruments SN012776 and TAS5770L, and Wolfson WM8904 DMICs, Some changes from the tip tree adding APIs needed by the AMD code are included, these were unfortunately rebased in the tip tree after being pulled in. There's also some regmap changes supporting the SCDA work and some devres refactoring that was pulled in to support other changes.

2025-01-12ALSA: seq: Notify UMP EP and FB changesTakashi Iwai
So far we notify the sequencer client and port changes upon UMP FB changes, but those aren't really corresponding to the UMP updates. e.g. when a FB info gets updated, it's not notified but done only when some of sequencer port attribute is changed. This is no ideal behavior. This patch adds the two new sequencer event types for notifying the UMP EP and FB changes via the announce port. The new event takes snd_seq_ev_ump_notify type data, which is compatible with snd_seq_addr (where the port number is replaced with the block number). The events are sent when the EP and FB info gets updated explicitly via ioctl, or the backend UMP receives the corresponding UMP messages. The sequencer protocol version is bumped to 1.0.5 along with it. Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de> Link: https://patch.msgid.link/20250110155943.31578-9-tiwai@suse.de
2025-01-12ALSA: rawmidi: Show substream activity in info ioctlTakashi Iwai
The UMP legacy rawmidi may turn on/off the substream dynamically depending on the UMP Function Block information. So far, there was no direct way to know whether the substream is disabled (inactive) or not; at most one can take a look at the substream name string or try to open and get -ENODEV. This patch extends the rawmidi info ioctl to show the current inactive state of the given substream. When the selected substream is inactive, info flags field contains the new bit flag SNDRV_RAWMIDI_INFO_STREAM_INACTIVE. 2025-01-12ALSA: rawmidi: Expose the tied device number in info ioctlTakashi Iwai
The UMP legacy rawmidi is derived from the UMP rawmidi, but currently there is no way to know which device is involved in other side. This patch extends the rawmidi info ioctl to show the tied device number. As default it stores -1, indicating that no tied device. https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/broonie/sound into for-linus ASoC: Fixes for v6.13 A pile of driver specific quirks and fixes that came in since the merge window. One of the AMD fixes is a bit broken for some systems, I'm expecting an incremental change to fix that but it seems better overall to merge the rest of the fixes. There's also one small documentation update that seemed sensible to apply now, pointing to the dapm-graph tool.

Other than the new drivers and the usual routine fixes and enhancements the bulk of the work has been Morimoto-san's continuing work on simplifiying APIs, plus a few other bits: - More API simplifications from Morimoto-san. - Renaming of the sh directory to Renesas to reflect the focus on other architectures. - Factoring out of some of the common code for Realtek devices. - Support for Allwinner H616, AMD ACP 6.3 systems, AWInic AW88081, Cirrus Logic CS32L84, Everest ES8328, Iron Devices SMA1307, Longsoon I2S, NeoFidelity NTP8918 and NTP8835, Philips UDA1342, Qualcomm SM8750, RealTek RT721, and ST Microelectronics STM32MP25.

We want sometimes to keep the runtime PM disabled persistently just like we did for the PM deny-list in the previous change, e.g. for testing some buggy device. This patch enhances the existing pm_blacklist option for achieving it easily. The default behavior doesn't change -- the driver looks up the deny list and disables the runtime PM if matches. However, when pm_blacklist=1 option is set, now the driver disables the runtime PM completely, just like the deny-list does. Update the documentation for this option, too. 2024-02-12ALSA: doc: Use DEFINE_SIMPLE_DEV_PM_OPS()Takashi Iwai
Use the new DEFINE_SIMPLE_DEV_PM_OPS() instead of SIMPLE_DEV_PM_OPS() for the example code. This allows us to drop CONFIG_PM_SLEEP ifdefs. While we're at it, expand the driver definition instead of passing directly via .driver.pm field. This seems to be a more common pattern. https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/broonie/sound into for-next ASoC: Updates for v6.7 This is quite a large set of changes but mostly due to API cleanups and in driver specific ways rather than due to anything subsystem wide. Highlights include: - Standardisation of API prefixes on snd_soc_, removing asoc_. - GPIO API usage improvements. - Support for HDA patches. - Lots of work on SOF, including crash dump support. - Support for AMD platforms with es83xx, Awinc AT87390, many Intel platforms, many Mediatek platforms, Qualcomm SM6115, Richtek RTQ9128 and Texas Instruments TAS575x. - Clarify the data flows. For SB Live!
