2025-05-05um: Remove legacy network transport infrastructureTiwei Bie
All legacy network transports have been removed. Vector transports provide the same capabilities with significantly higher network throughput. There is no reason to keep the legacy network transport infrastructure anymore. Remove it to reduce the maintenance burden. 2025-05-05um: Remove obsolete legacy network transportsTiwei Bie
These legacy network transports were marked as obsolete in commit 40814b98a570 ("um: Mark non-vector net transports as obsolete"). More than five years have passed since then. Remove these network transports to reduce the maintenance burden. 2022-03-11docs: UML: Mention telnetd for port channelVincent Whitchurch
It is not obvious from the documentation that using the "port" channel for the console requires telnetd to be installed (see port_connection() in arch/um/drivers/port_user.c). Mention this, and the fact that UML will not boot until a client connects. 2020-02-12docs: virt: convert UML documentation to ReSTMauro Carvalho Chehab
Despite being an old document, it contains lots of information that could still be useful. The document has a nice style with makes easy to convert to ReST. So, let's convert it to ReST. This patch does: - Use proper markups for titles; - Mark and proper indent literal blocks; - don't use an 'o' character for lists; - other minor changes required for the doc to be parsed. 2019-07-24Documentation: move Documentation/virtual to Documentation/virtChristoph Hellwig
Renaming docs seems to be en vogue at the moment, so fix on of the grossly misnamed directories. We usually never use "virtual" as a shortcut for virtualization in the kernel, but always virt, as seen in the virt/ top-level directory. Fix up the documentation to match that.
