2025-06-29ASoC: Intel: SND_SOC_INTEL_SOF_BOARD_HELPERS select SND_SOC_ACPI_INTEL_MATCHBard Liao
The helpers that are provided by SND_SOC_ACPI_INTEL_MATCH (soc-acpi-intel-ssp-common) are used in SND_SOC_INTEL_SOF_BOARD_HELPERS (sof_board_helpers). SND_SOC_ACPI_INTEL_MATCH is selected by machine drivers. When skl_hda_dsp_generic uses the board helpers, it select SND_SOC_INTEL_SOF_BOARD_HELPERS only but not SND_SOC_ACPI_INTEL_MATCH which initroduce the undefined symbol errors. However, it makes more sense that SND_SOC_INTEL_SOF_BOARD_HELPERS select SND_SOC_ACPI_INTEL_MATCH itself. 2024-08-19ASoC: Intel: Remove skylake driverMark Brown
Merge series from Cezary Rojewski <cezary.rojewski@intel.com>: A spiritual successor to haswell/baytrail removal series [1]. The avs-driver found in sound/soc/intel/avs is a direct replacement to the existing skylake-driver. It covers all features supported by it and more and aligns with the recommended flows and requirements based on Windows driver equivalent. The skylake-driver related UAPI has been removed with "ASoC: Drop soc-topology ABI v4 support" [2]. For the official kernel tree the deprecation begun with v6.0. Most skylake-drivers users moved to avs- or SOF-driver when AudioDSP capabilities are available on the platform or to snd-hda-intel (sound/pci/hda) when such capabilities are not. For the supported trees the deprecation begun with v5.4 with v5.15 being the first where the skylake-driver is disabled entirely. All machine board drivers that consume this DSP driver have their replacements present within sound/soc/intel/avs/boards/ directory. 2024-03-26ASoC: Intel: sof_sdw: Move get_codec_dai_by_name() into sof_sdw itselfCharles Keepax
Currently sof_sdw relies on sof_board_helpers to provide get_codec_dai_by_name(), but that is the only function from sof_board_helpers it uses and no other machine driver requires that function. There is no reason for sof_sdw to select SSP_COMMON but more and more functions in sof_board_helpers are gaining dependencies on functions that would require stubs for sof_sdw to build without it. Firstly it was sof_ssp_get_codec_name(), as was fixed in commit c1469c3a8a30 ("ASoC: Intel: ssp-common: Add stub for sof_ssp_get_codec_name"), now it is: ERROR: modpost: "sof_ssp_detect_amp_type" [sound/soc/intel/boards/snd-soc-intel-sof-board-helpers.ko] undefined! ERROR: modpost: "sof_ssp_detect_codec_type" [sound/soc/intel/boards/snd-soc-intel-sof-board-helpers.ko] undefined! Rather than adding more stubs, simply move the affected function to the sof_sdw machine driver itself and no longer select SND_SOC_INTEL_SOF_BOARD_HELPERS at all. This should allow work on SSP_COMMON to progress without affecting sof_sdw. 2023-12-04ASoC: Intel: bytcht_es8316: Dump basic _DSM informationPierre-Louis Bossart
Instead of adding DMI quirks for each new tablet model which uses the ESS8316 codec, the plan is to switch to querying the same ACPI Device-Specific-Method (DSM) as Windows uses to determine things like speaker and mic routing. Call the new es83xx_dsm_dump() helper which logs various basic settings which can be queried through the ACPI DSM method on the codec ACPI device, this is intended to help with developing a DSM based solution to replace most DMI quirks. 2023-11-27ASoC: Intel: sof_sdw: Add rt722 supportChao Song
RT722 is a multi-function codec which supports headset, amp, and dmic functions. Each function provides a DAI which can be used in different dailinks. The RT711 supports up to 3 SoundWire lanes, but that should not have any impact in the machine driver: the lanes are allocated and controlled by the manager and bandwidth allocation algorithm.
