2024-11-07selftests/powerpc: Give all tests 2 minutes timeoutMichael Ellerman
Each of the powerpc selftests runs with a timeout of 2 minutes by default (see tools/testing/selftests/powerpc/harness.c). But when tests are run with run_kselftest.sh it uses a timeout of 45 seconds, meaning some tests run OK standalone but fail when run with the test runner. So tell run_kselftest.sh to give each test 130 seconds, that should allow the tests to complete, or be killed by the powerpc test harness after 2 minutes. If for some reason the harness fails, or for the few tests that don't use the harness, the 130 second timeout should catch them if they get stuck. Build breaks when executing make with run_tests for sub-folders under powerpc. Fix this by adding the flags.mk in each sub-folder Makefile. 2021-04-08selftests/powerpc: Suggest memtrace instead of /dev/mem for ci memoryJordan Niethe
The suggested alternative for getting cache-inhibited memory with 'mem=' and /dev/mem is pretty hacky. Also, PAPR guests do not allow system memory to be mapped cache-inhibited so despite /dev/mem being available this will not work which can cause confusion. Instead recommend using the memtrace buffers. memtrace is only available on powernv so there will not be any chance of trying to do this in a guest. 2021-01-20selftests/powerpc: Only test lwm/stmw on big endianMichael Ellerman
Newer binutils (>= 2.36) refuse to assemble lmw/stmw when building in little endian mode. That breaks compilation of our alignment handler test: /tmp/cco4l14N.s: Assembler messages: /tmp/cco4l14N.s:1440: Error: `lmw' invalid when little-endian /tmp/cco4l14N.s:1814: Error: `stmw' invalid when little-endian make[2]: *** [../../lib.mk:139: /output/kselftest/powerpc/alignment/alignment_handler] Error 1 These tests do pass on little endian machines, as the kernel will still emulate those instructions even when running little endian (which is arguably a kernel bug). But we don't really need to test that case, so ifdef those instructions out to get the alignment test building again. 2020-10-20selftests/powerpc: Make alignment handler test P9N DD2.1 vector CI load ↵Michael Neuling
workaround alignment_handler currently only tests the unaligned cases but it can also be useful for testing the workaround for the P9N DD2.1 vector CI load issue fixed by p9_hmi_special_emu(). This workaround was introduced in 5080332c2c89 ("powerpc/64s: Add workaround for P9 vector CI load issue"). This changes the loop to start from offset 0 rather than 1 so that we test the kernel emulation in p9_hmi_special_emu(). 2020-09-08selftests/powerpc: Fix prefixes in alignment_handler signal handlerJordan Niethe
The signal handler in the alignment handler self test has the ability to jump over the instruction that triggered the signal. It does this by incrementing the PT_NIP in the user context by 4. If it were a prefixed instruction this will mean that the suffix is then executed which is incorrect. Instead check if the major opcode indicates a prefixed instruction (e.g. it is 1) and if so increment PT_NIP by 8. If ISA v3.1 is not available treat it as a word instruction even if the major opcode is 1. 2020-09-08selftests/powerpc: Include asm/cputable.h from utils.hMichael Ellerman
utils.h provides have_hwcap() and have_hwcap2() which check for a feature bit. Those bits are defined in asm/cputable.h, so include it in utils.h so users of utils.h don't have to do it manually. 2020-06-22selftests/powerpc: Allow choice of CI memory location in alignment_handler testJordan Niethe
The alignment handler selftest needs cache-inhibited memory and currently /dev/fb0 is relied on to provided this. This prevents running the test on systems without /dev/fb0 (e.g., mambo). Read the commandline arguments for an optional path to be used instead, as well as an optional offset to be for mmaping this path. 2018-09-28selftests/powerpc: Fix Makefiles for headers_install changeMichael Ellerman
Commit b2d35fa5fc80 ("selftests: add headers_install to lib.mk") introduced a requirement that Makefiles more than one level below the selftests directory need to define top_srcdir, but it didn't update any of the powerpc Makefiles. 2018-07-20selftests/powerpc: Remove Power9 copy_unaligned testMichael Ellerman
This is a test of the ISA 3.0 "copy" instruction. That instruction has an L field, which if set to 1 specifies that "the instruction identifies the beginning of a move group" (pp 858). That's also referred to as "copy first" vs "copy". In ISA 3.0B the copy instruction does not have an L field, and the corresponding bit in the instruction must be set to 1. This test is generating a "copy" instruction, not a "copy first", and so on Power9 (which implements 3.0B), this results in an illegal instruction. So just drop the test entirely. We still have copy_first_unaligned to test the "copy first" behaviour. Currently, kselftest use TEST_PROGS, TEST_PROGS_EXTENDED, TEST_FILES to indicate the test program, extended test program and test files. It is easy to understand the purpose of these files. But mix of compiled and uncompiled files lead to duplicated "all" and "clean" targets. In order to remove the duplicated targets, introduce TEST_GEN_PROGS, TEST_GEN_PROGS_EXTENDED, TEST_GEN_FILES to indicate the compiled objects. Also, the later patch will make use of TEST_GEN_XXX to redirect these files to output directory indicated by KBUILD_OUTPUT or O. And add this changes to "Contributing new tests(details)" of Documentation/kselftest.txt.
