2025-03-16cxl: Remove driverAndrew Donnellan
Remove the cxl driver that provides support for the IBM Coherent Accelerator Processor Interface. Revert or clean up associated code in arch/powerpc that is no longer necessary. cxl has received minimal maintenance for several years, and is not supported on the Power10 processor. We aren't aware of any users who are likely to be using recent kernels. Thanks to Mikey Neuling, Ian Munsie, Daniel Axtens, Frederic Barrat, Christophe Lombard, Philippe Bergheaud, Vaibhav Jain and Alastair D'Silva for their work on this driver over the years. 2025-02-19cxl: Fix cross-reference in documentation and add deprecation warningAndrew Donnellan
commit 5731d41af924 ("cxl: Deprecate driver") labelled the cxl driver as deprecated and moved the ABI documentation to the obsolete/ subdirectory, but didn't update cxl.rst, causing a warning once ff7ff6eb4f809 ("docs: media: Allow creating cross-references for RC ABI") was merged. Fix the cross-reference, and also add a deprecation warning. 2024-10-29powerpc/64: Remove maple platformMichael Ellerman
The maple platform was added in 2004 [1], to support the "Maple" 970FX evaluation board. It was later used for IBM JS20/JS21 machines, as well as the Bimini machine, aka "Yellow Dog Powerstation". Sadly all those machines have passed into memory, and there's been no evidence for years that anyone is still using any of them. Remove the platform and related code. It can always be reinstated if there's interest. Note that this has no impact on support for 970FX based Power Macs. 2024-04-29Documentation/powerpc: update fadump implementation detailsSourabh Jain
The patch titled ("powerpc: make fadump resilient with memory add/remove events") has made significant changes to the implementation of fadump, particularly on elfcorehdr creation and fadump crash info header structure. Therefore, updating the fadump implementation documentation to reflect those changes. Following updates are done to firmware assisted dump documentation: 1. The elfcorehdr is no longer stored after fadump HDR in the reserved dump area. Instead, the second kernel dynamically allocates memory for the elfcorehdr within the address range from 0 to the boot memory size. Therefore, update figures 1 and 2 of Memory Reservation during the first and second kernels to reflect this change. 2. A version field has been added to the fadump header to manage the future changes to fadump crash info header structure without changing the fadump header magic number in the future. Therefore, remove the corresponding TODO from the document. 2024-01-11docs: kernel_feat.py: fix potential command injectionVegard Nossum
The kernel-feat directive passes its argument straight to the shell. This is unfortunate and unnecessary. Let's always use paths relative to $srctree/Documentation/ and use subprocess.check_call() instead of subprocess.Popen(shell=True). This also makes the code shorter. This is analogous to commit 3231dd586277 ("docs: kernel_abi.py: fix command injection") where we did exactly the same thing for kernel_abi.py, somehow I completely missed this one.
