2023-12-01wifi: rtlwifi: rtl8821ae: Access full PMCS reg and use pci_regs.hIlpo Järvinen
_rtl8821ae_clear_pci_pme_status() accesses the upper byte of the Power Management Control/Status register (PMCS) with literal 5 offset. Access the entire PMCS register using defines from pci_regs.h to improve code readability. While at it, remove the obvious comment and tweak debug prints slightly to not sound misleading. 2022-12-14wifi: rtlwifi: rtl8821ae: don't call kfree_skb() under spin_lock_irqsave()Yang Yingliang
It is not allowed to call kfree_skb() from hardware interrupt context or with interrupts being disabled. 2022-04-11mac80211: prepare sta handling for MLO supportSriram R
Currently in mac80211 each STA object is represented using sta_info datastructure with the associated STA specific information and drivers access ieee80211_sta part of it. With MLO (Multi Link Operation) support being added in 802.11be standard, though the association is logically with a single Multi Link capable STA, at the physical level communication can happen via different advertised links (uniquely identified by Channel, operating class, BSSID) and hence the need to handle multiple link STA parameters within a composite sta_info object called the MLD STA. The different link STA part of MLD STA are identified using the link address which can be same or different as the MLD STA address and unique link id based on the link vif. To support extension of such a model, the sta_info datastructure is modified to hold multiple link STA objects with link specific params currently within sta_info moved to this new structure. Similarly this is done for ieee80211_sta as well which will be accessed within mac80211 as well as by drivers, hence trivial driver changes are expected to support this. For current non MLO supported drivers, only one link STA is present and link information is accessed via 'deflink' member. For MLO drivers, we still need to define the APIs etc. to get the correct link ID and access the correct part of the station info. Currently in mac80211, all link STA info are accessed directly via deflink. These will be updated to access via link pointers indexed by link id with MLO support patches, with link id being 0 for non MLO supported cases. Except for couple of macro related changes, below spatch takes care of updating mac80211 and driver code to access to the link STA info via deflink. @ieee80211_sta@ struct ieee80211_sta *s; struct sta_info *si; identifier var = {supp_rates, ht_cap, vht_cap, he_cap, he_6ghz_capa, eht_cap, rx_nss, bandwidth, txpwr}; @@ ( s-> - var + deflink.var | si->sta. - var + deflink.var ) @sta_info@ struct sta_info *si; identifier var = {gtk, pcpu_rx_stats, rx_stats, rx_stats_avg, status_stats, tx_stats, cur_max_bandwidth}; @@ ( si-> - var + deflink.var ) Signed-off-by: Sriram R <quic_srirrama@quicinc.com> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/1649086883-13246-1-git-send-email-quic_srirrama@quicinc.com [remove MLO-drivers notes from commit message, not clear yet; run spatch] Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg@intel.com>

2020-09-09rtlwifi: switch from 'pci_' to 'dma_' APIChristophe JAILLET
The wrappers in include/linux/pci-dma-compat.h should go away. The patch has been generated with the coccinelle script below and has been hand modified to replace GFP_ with a correct flag. It has been compile tested. The only file where some GFP_ flags are updated is 'pci.c'. When memory is allocated in '_rtl_pci_init_tx_ring()' and '_rtl_pci_init_rx_ring()' GFP_KERNEL can be used because both functions are called from a probe function and no spinlock is taken. 2018-02-07rtlwifi: rtl8821ae: Fix connection lost problem correctlyLarry Finger
There has been a coding error in rtl8821ae since it was first introduced, namely that an 8-bit register was read using a 16-bit read in _rtl8821ae_dbi_read(). This error was fixed with commit 40b368af4b75 ("rtlwifi: Fix alignment issues"); however, this change led to instability in the connection. To restore stability, this change was reverted in commit b8b8b16352cd ("rtlwifi: rtl8821ae: Fix connection lost problem"). Unfortunately, the unaligned access causes machine checks in ARM architecture, and we were finally forced to find the actual cause of the problem on x86 platforms. Following a suggestion from Pkshih <pkshih@realtek.com>, it was found that increasing the ASPM L1 latency from 0 to 7 fixed the instability. This parameter was varied to see if a smaller value would work; however, it appears that 7 is the safest value. A new symbol is defined for this quantity, thus it can be easily changed if necessary. 2017-12-07rtlwifi: Convert individual interrupt results to structLarry Finger
With the RTL8822BE and later devices, the number of interrupt vectors has grown from 2 to 4. At this point, saving and passing those vectors in a struct makes more sense than using individual scaler variables. In two of the drivers, code to process the second of the interrupt registers was included, but commented out. This patch removes those useless sections. The addresses of Wlan NIC registers are natural alignment, but some drivers have bugs. These are evident on platforms that need natural alignment to access registers. This change contains the following: 1. Function _rtl8821ae_dbi_read() is used to read one byte from DBI, thus it should use rtl_read_byte(). 2. Register 0x4C7 of 8192ee is single byte. 2016-12-30rtlwifi: rtl8821ae: Remove all instances of DBG_EMERGLarry Finger
This is a step toward eliminating the RT_TRACE macros. Those calls that have DBG_EMERG as the level are always logged, and they represent error conditions, thus they are replaced with pr_err(). 2016-12-30rtlwifi: Replace local debug macro RT_ASSERTLarry Finger
This macro can be replaced with WARN_ONCE. In addition to using a standard debugging macro for these critical errors, we also get a stack dump. In rtl8821ae/hw.c, a senseless comment was removed, and an incorrect indentation was fixed. This patch also fixes two places in each of rtl8192ee, rtl8723be, and rtl8821ae where the logical condition was incorrect. 2016-07-08rtlwifi: Add missing newlines to RT_TRACE callsJoe Perches

2016-06-16rtlwifi: fix error handling in *_read_adapter_info()Arnd Bergmann
There are nine copies of the _rtl88ee_read_adapter_info() function, and most but not all of them cause a build warning in some configurations: rtl8192de/hw.c: In function '_rtl92de_read_adapter_info': rtl8192de/hw.c:1767:12: error: 'hwinfo' may be used uninitialized in this function [-Werror=maybe-uninitialized] rtl8723ae/hw.c: In function '_rtl8723e_read_adapter_info.constprop': rtlwifi/rtl8723ae/hw.c:1654:12: error: 'hwinfo' may be used uninitialized in this function [-Werror=maybe-uninitialized] The problem is that when rtlefuse->epromtype is something other than EEPROM_BOOT_EFUSE, the rest of the function uses undefined data, resulting in random behavior later. Apparently, in some drivers, the problem was already found and fixed but the fix did not make it into the others. This picks one approach to deal with the problem and applies identical code to all 9 files, to simplify the later consolidation of those. 2016-03-08rtlwifi: Fix size of wireless mode variableLarry Finger
Smatch reports the following warning: CHECK drivers/net/wireless/realtek/rtlwifi/rc.c drivers/net/wireless/realtek/rtlwifi/rc.c:144 _rtl_rc_rate_set_series() warn: impossible condition '(wireless_mode == 256) => (0-255 == 256)' This warning arises because commit acc6907b87a9 ("rtlwifi: Fix warning from ieee80211_get_tx_rates() when using 5G") now checks the wireless mode for WIRELESS_MODE_AC_ONLY (BIT(8)) in _rtl_rc_rate_set_series(). 2016-02-25rtlwifi: rtl8821ae: Convert driver to use common 5G channel tableLarry Finger
There are several copies of the 5G channel tables in this driver. These are removed so that the tables in the core will be used. This change also removes a useless message of "Channel 163 in Group not found". The number of possible 5G channels was reduced from 54 to a better value of 49 during the conversion. 2015-11-17rtlwifi: rtl8821ae: Fix lockups on bootLarry Finger
In commit 54328e64047a5 ("rtlwifi: rtl8821ae: Fix system lockups on boot"), an attempt was made to fix a regression introduced in commit 1277fa2ab2f9 ("rtlwifi: Remove the clear interrupt routine from all drivers"). Unfortunately, there were logic errors in that patch that prevented affected boxes from booting even after that patch was applied. The actual cause of the original problem is unknown as none of the developers have systems that are affected. The diffstat looks scary as we created a new directory realtek for all realtek drivers. In the future I'm planning to create similar directories for all vendors, currently we just have ath, mediatek and realtek. This change has been in linux-next for a couple of weeks so it should be safe, but of course you never know. There's also a new driver rtl8xxxu for few realtek USB devices. This just made it to the last linux-next build. Otherwise there's nothing really special, more info below. If time permits, and it's ok for you, I'm hoping to send you a one more pull request this week. brcmfmac * using netdev carrier state * add and rework some cfg80211 callbacks mainly for AP mode * use devcoredump when triggered by firmware event realtek * create new directory drivers/net/wireless/realtek/ for all realtek drivers, not visible to users (no kconfig changes etc) * add rtl8xxxu, a new mac80211 driver for RTL8723AU, RTL8188CU, RTL8188RU, RTL8191CU, RTL8192CU and hopefully more in the future ath10k * add board 2 API support for automatically choosing correct board file * data path optimisations * disable PCI power save for qca988x and QCA99x0 due to interop reasons wil6210 * BlockAckReq support * firmware crashdump using devcoredump * capture all frames with sniffer ==================== Signed-off-by: David S. 2015-10-14rtlwifi: rtl818x: Move drivers into new realtek directoryLarry Finger
Now that a new mac80211-based driver for Realtek devices has been submitted, it is time to reorganize the directories. Rather than having directories rtlwifi and rtl818x be in drivers/net/wireless/, they will now be in drivers/net/wireless/realtek/. This change simplifies the directory structure, but does not result in any configuration changes that are visable to the user.
